Return Visit

We returned to this excellent site as we said we would after the visit last year. The family is so welcoming, and always on hand. There is a secure gate to the site, to which you are given a key. Everywhere is kept to the highest standard; Recycling is made very simple with the labelled bins. This site is so ideal when you have dogs, well maintained paths field after field, (signs and yellow post, look as if they have just been replaced). The canal in Hickling ( 5mins walk away) has excellent tow path surface for Bike Riders although the Lanes seem well used by cyclist. The Pub is a great stop to refuel with liquid and food after a good walk or bike ride excellent outside area dogs made welcome. We will certainly be returning.

wonderful place

What a wonderful place, I am so pleased with this site that we will return here as soon as we can. The country store is a delight to shop in with a good choice of goods and helpful staff, the Plough pub down the road at Hickling is a must visit for lunch or evening meal, and with real ale to , all in a quaint pub near the canal so my wife and I will be back.

Peace and Scenery

Booked a 3 day break but decided after the first day to stay for four. This is one of those sites you are always looking for but rarely find The owners are very friendly with a warm welcome and take the time to show you where all the essentials are. The CL field has a secure lock on the gate and you are all issued with your own key, everything is clean and tidy and the grass is well mown to give an almost perfectly level surface....no levelling blocks required here. There is a well stocked farm shop a tea room and also all the flowers in the greenhouse. Hickling village is only 3/4 mile away with access on to the old Grantham Canal towpath, very good surface to walk or cycle, and there is always the pub at The Basin for food and refreshments. It is a good base for places like Melton Mowbray/Newark/Grantham. Have already made up our minds that this is a site that we will return to.

Rural location

Lovely site, level, well organised site, with Country store to the rear, selling, bread, cakes, meat, milk & newspapers. Could not have asked for anything more on a CL site. Plenty of space, secure & friendly owners, even though we were a late arrival due to traffic delays, Spent Saturday visiting the Food Festival at Melton Mowbray.

Scarecrow Festival

We stayed here in a campervan for the Scarecrow festival in Hickling which was just a short walk from the site. We were visited by some friends for a picnic lunch as a birthday celebration and had a lovely time. Can really recommend this site, the fresh fruit and vegetable shop all local produce is wonderful.

What a gem

First visited this site at Easter 2012 and have visited again recently and can't wait to go back again soon. Fantastic flat, spacious and well maintained site with secure access. The farm shop is full of wonderful locally produced goodies including hot croissants (which my wife fetches every morning for my breakfast in bed). There are lovely walks from the site including along the Grantham canal tow path to the local pub. This site is a real pleasure to visit and there is always a warm welcome from the owners. Highly recommended

Bank Holiday Weekend

We have just returned from a most enjoyable 4 day break at this excellent CL site. We understand it is the first year of opening, a very well maintained, adults only, rural site, with a locked gate all times. (given a key for the duration of stay) Electric & Water on hand. Recycling & chemical waste area very clean and well marked. A warm welcome by the owners on arrival, given a small map of the area alongside local places of interest . The Plough Inn at Hickling is just a short walk away, serves food everyday and a great pint of Bass, they have a large beer garden, dogs made welcome, entertainment some evenings. The walks around this site are well marked and maintained, the Grantham Canal in Hickling Village is 5 mins walk down the road or if you have a bicycle great tow path surface and flat for we oldies . A mixture of wild life on the canal and on the road in Hickling. ( Bag of bread and you are a friend for life) If you like fishing just down the road is the Canal basin at Hickling day tickets available. Along the drive to the site is a Farm Shop / Nursery. The shop is very well stocked, fresh bread, cakes/ milk/fruit & vegetables/delicatessen plus everyday basic essentials.( Sunday papers available). We came home with plants from the Nursery (very good prices) We will be visiting this site again and recommending it to all are caravan friends.

Wonderful Stay

This CL is excellent in every way. It is very secure, the entrance gate has to be kept locked at all times which is a good piece of mind. The facilities are second to none. The Store itself if first class. The Owners Chris & Jan are really lovely and so are all there staff. We will be back.
