Lovely CL.

Nice clean site,Level grass field, We spent 9 nights here, plenty of room for awnings. good little on site shop, and nursery. There is a toilet but we never found it until the last day. It does state wifi, but you can only get it if you sit outside the shop and not in your van, which I found a bit misleading. Having said that I would go back again, Easy drive into Nottingham race course park and ride into city centre £3.50 a car.no charge for persons. A visit to the city caves and The old courthouse a must. Great Central steam railway not far, and a pork pie in Melton Mowbury. Our dog loved the walks around the fields which all have mown walk ways. We will return again soon

A Little Piece Of Heaven On Earth

Wow! What a fantastic place. The site is well maintained and well secured. It's extremely quiet, peaceful and has great views. There's also a well stocked farm shop selling a wide range of products - some of which the owners have grown themselves - and a plant nursery selling good quality plants at good prices.  All the staff are friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them. There's a great network of walks from the site across the fields on dedicated grass tracks (not too demanding) and along the now dis-used Grantham Canal, which is also great for cycling along too. There's an abundance of wild life on the walks along with great views and no people! The Plough is a good pub and only about half a mile down the road and situated across from the canal basin: quite an idyllic setting. This site is also well positioned if you wish to visit Nottingham city centre as it's only a 25 minute drive away. The owners are doing a great job with this site and it really is a credit to them. This is a site we'll be visiting time and again and truly feels like a little bit of heaven on earth.

Wonderful Site

Just got back from a wonderful weekend at this site. On arrival had a very warm welcome and all the staff were very helpful and friendly. Had some lovely walks and the local pub was excellent. Would not hesitate to visit this site again. Thank you The Good Grub Company keep up the good work.

Nice site

Nice clean site with excellent farm shop. Some good walking to be had along the canal with good food served at pubs in Hickling and Kinoulton. We will be going back.

Peace, a disused canal and an excellent pub!

We stayed on this site for 3 nights. Access and on-going security is through a padlocked gate and you have the key. The facilities are well thought out and clean. There is an excellent shop and plant nursery on site so no problem if you forget anything. The site had changed hands shortly before our visit but the new owners were welcoming and some work is on-going to improve the property. Out of the gate and turn left, walk along the road into Hickling and you find two treasures. One is the disused Grantham Canal - walk along the towpath in either direction and find absolute peace and wonderful wildlife. Then back to the wharf basin and cross the road to The Plough. This truly is a proper village pub - well used by the locals it serves good ale, food if you want it, with a landlord and landlady who are pleased to see you and chat without intruding.

Excellent

This is an excellent CL on the Nottinghamshire/Leicestershire border with access from the site directly onto the footpath network. The Grantham canal is just half a mile away with excellent walks along the restored towpath. Adjacent to the canal in Hickling (again half a mile from the site) is The Plough Inn which was very welcoming and does nice food. Access into the site is good, and it is very useful have a shop adjacent to the site. I've only awarded it four stars for Peace and tranquility because adjacent to the site is a country road, although the traffic was light over the weekend we stayed the traffic certainly sped along the road. Would this stop us returning? Definitely not.

cannot fault this lovely CL site, owners most helpful and welcoming. The area surrounding the site is superb for walking and cycling. " local pubs, The Neville Arms(Kinoulton) and The Plough (Hickling) both within easy walking distance and very friendly. Best chemical waste facility i've ever seen!!!! Shop on site a real bonus with very friendly staff and lovely fresh produce. Tea and cakes in the greenhouse on friday and saturday - great! Will definately be coming back as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, just waiting for next years book to arrive so we can book for next year!!! As I said WHAT A GEM!!!!!

A Gem on the doorstep

First visit to the CL and will have a lasting impression the owner's have certainly put great thoughts not only into the CL but also into their farm shop business, which stock fresh local produces. Local to many areas and you can walk down the canal from the site to a local pub. The security gate works well, along with the re-cycling bins. Site is excellent, well laid out with plenty of space. Owners make you very welcome, and will certainly be visiting again Well done to all concerned Chambers 14.07 2013

Fabulous

Managed to get in here at short notice en route back from Yorkshire. What a find! We will definitely be back and will recommend it to anyone looking for a site in this area. The welcome was very warm and the owners were very keen for ideas to improve the site. The farm shop on the site is well stocked.. Would have stayed longer if we hadn't needed to get home. Will certainly stay for longer next time.
