Great CL site

Skybarn Farm is everything that you could want from a CL site. OK, there are no toilets, showers or washing up facilities but when we book CL sites thats what we expect. All five pitches are well spaced out, "Fully serviced", and have large, flat and level hardstanding on stones. There is plenty of space for a van and awning and then more. The site is secured with entrance gates which operate from a keypad. The owner was very friendly and helpful and she came to greet us a couple of hours after arrival and then she came to check everything was OK a couple of days later.

The site is a working arable farm so don't expect stunning views over the rolling hills, it's Lincolnshire, it's flat and slightly featureless but there are lots of tracks surrounding the farm fields and these are the basis of the dog walks. On the plus side, the hedgerows were bustling with bird life and we spotted plenty of rabbits and a few hares in the fields.

The one big bonus that we liked was the "Phone App" that Skybarn use to give loads of information about themselves, places to visit, things to do, local transport etc., etc. It really was useful and became our one-stop shop for any info we needed. Its about ten miles into the centre of Lincoln and around the same to the Park and Ride which is based at a large Waitrose store, and then a ten minute bus ride into the centre of Lincoln.

Tip: if you are visiting the castle or cathedral area, the park and ride bus stops about 200 yards from the rear of the cathedral, this means you don't have to walk up the very long steep streets from the city centre to visit this part of the city.

We enjoyed our six days in and around Lincoln, the city centre and the waterfront around the marina was busier than we expected considering we are still have some Covid restrictions but we found plenty of outdoor seating at the restaurant's and all the staff doing there best under difficult circumstances.

Negatives: Only one really. There is some road noise at Skybarn as the main A46 is quite close across the fields. It didn't bother us too much, but it might bother some people.

Would we stay here again? 100% yes.

Excellent

This excellent site offers everything. Each pitch is fully serviced, ours was level, and each offers plenty of hard standing for an awning. Professionally run with all necessary attention to COVID guidelines. On top of this professionalism is a pleasant and welcoming attitude from the owners which was never intrusive. A secured gated access and well screened from the road, there are open views across fields. Yes, as others have mentioned, there is background noise from the nearby dual carriageway, but within a short time we barely noticed this, and considered it more than outweighed by the pleasure of staying on a properly run site. Our first visit - and even though we are fairly local, we hope to book in again. Not many meet the high standards found at Skybarn Farm.

Another wonderful week at Skybarn

Like another reviewer we have been coming here, every year since 2015 and it's one of our favourite sites. Warm welcome, excellent facilities with large, level fully serviced pitches, easy access, secure, and with wonderful dog walks around the fields. One development worthy of note are the afternoon teas!! Nicola has come to an arrangement with a local baker who will deliver a box containing the most wonderful afternoon cream tea. It was absolutely scrumptious and most generous to the extent that we had to finish it off on the following day. It is a really good initiative helping both guests and a local business and is a treat I can thoroughly recommend.

Warm welcome and great stay at Skybarn Farm

What a lovely site with all facilities on our pitch. We were welcomed by Nicola. She is a fount of knowledge of the area and provided us with a loan of local OS maps. The information room was open and that held some good leaflets of attractions in the area. As we tend to leave our motorhome on site and use public transport, walk or cycle we discovered that all were available to do. The nearest bus stop is just over a mile and a half away towards Lincoln and the bus from there is every 60 minutes into the city. The walk to that bus stop is a shared (with cyclists) off road path. If you decide to cycle into Lincoln the bike lanes continue all the way. Nicola also loaned us a fob to securely park the bikes at the railway station. (£10 refundable deposit required). The site is well kept and the hard-standings are level. As has been mentioned in previous reviews there is some traffic noise from the A46 if the wind is in the wrong direction. However, that tended to lessen as the evening progressed. All in all a well run and managed site to which we shall return.

Super CL

It’s a pity we had not been here before - a superb CL. Well laid out with plenty of room for each pitch and views across Richard & Nicola’s farmland. A quiet CL although if the wind is coming from the north you may hear some traffic noise from the A46 but not excessive. Easy access to Newark and Lincoln and surrounding countryside. We were made very welcome and certainly won’t be our last visit. Thank you to both Nicola and Richard.

Wow!

It would be very difficult to fault this site. Level pitches well spaced out with views. Very easy access from main roads. I wanted to cycle into Lincoln and Nicola was very helpful in pointing out a cycle track that started 4 miles away from the site (accessed by an easy and fairly flat ride on quiet roads). The cycle path is fully tarmaced so can be ridden on a road bike and the path drops you right into the centre of Lincoln. Wonderful! I also understood that there was a cycle path nearer the site but ran closer to the main road.

Lovely week

One of the first visitors when site opened on freedom day. Our second visit. An excellent site, very well maintained, fully serviced pitches, plenty of room and very peaceful. So nice to be back in the van. Nicola and Richard friendly and very welcoming with lots of information and we were blessed with the weather. We will certainly be back

Gem of a site

Lovely little CL. Easy access and secure. Beautifully kept. Surrounded by green fields. Fully serviced good sized hard standing pitches. There are walks directly from the site through farm land and surrounding countryside. Lots of wildlife to see. Owners very friendly and helpful. Plenty of places of interest around and good local pub within walking distance. Will be going for the 4th time next year and looking forward to it.

LOVELY CL

First visit to Skybarn Farm, and a lovely welcome from Nicola, who is friendly, helpful and informative, without being intrusive. It was a pleasure to finally meet her, after numerous emails (answered very swiftly). Booking is easy, via their online booking service, payment via bank transfer. A deposit should have been taken at time of booking, but at that point it was uncertain whether COVID would mean cancellation, so it was several weeks before a deposit was requested. The site has all hardstanding, level, fully serviced, pitches,(electric, water tap and waste drain), CDP, dog/boot wash, free WIFI and information hut. There is a dog walk around the fields and also to the pub in nearby Aubourn (we didn't venture this time, due to the pandemic). Yes there is some road noise from the A46 if the wind is blowing in the wrong direction, but the easy access far outweighs this. Lincoln is easily accessible, with the Cathedral, castle and Steep Hill in the older part of the city, there are lots of shops, both chains and independents, as well as supermarkets. Newark, in the opposite direction, is also easily reached. Whisby Nature reserve and Doddington Hall are both within easy reach. The Lincolnshire coastal resorts are about an hours drive. Lincolnshire Wildlife park is probably the same, and worth a visit. Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage at East Kirby airfield is a good day out, with the Lancaster bomber, Just Jane, in the process of restoration, plus access to the various buildings, housing WW2 displays. Must also recommend Fish King in North Hykeham (about 4 miles away), excellent fish and chips and very generous portions at a reasonable price. ordered and paid online, they email when your order is ready to collect, the restaurant is closed at present due to COVID. Thoroughly enjoyed our week at Skybarn Farm and would readily recommend to anyone wishing to visit Lincolnshire.
