Classic CL

Two pitching areas but we had the lower, large grass field (again). Choice of 7 hard standing areas linked with a circular road. Easy access to water and recycling bins and a short walk to clean toilet and shower facilities should you choose to use them. Chemical disposal in same area. Relatively easy access to the Yorkshire Dales although you do have to be careful on the typical Dales roads - narrow with dry stone walls! Skipton, Grassington, Settle, Malham all very close, Wharfedale on the doorstep and Penygent and Ingleborough not far away. If you really want - The Lake District is about 90 mins away! Brilliant CL for lovers of peace and quiet!

Winter Break

Just spent a few days at this site and I really can't fault it. The owners were very friendly and the site is well maintained, level and really well drained. Particularly noticeable after all the rain we've had lately. We were lucky that the days were partly sunny and no frost. There is a limit to the dog walking opportunities as previously mentioned but we managed with our two Poodles and its only three miles to a canal towpath where you can walk as far as you want, this with the added bonus of a pub serving food all day when you return to the car. Very nice site and we'll certainly return.

Lovely, in spite of the weather! :0)

Lovely site, even in the wind, mud and rain which is how we experienced it and very helpful, accommodating people. Would mention, however, that it is quite a long walk from the top caravan field to the toilet and shower block which wasn’t particularly an issue for us, but the chemical toilet is also there so it could be a problem for some people. The bottom field is closer to the toilet block. There is a little trolley next to the bin on the top site to rest the cassette on should you need it however. Also there isn’t really anywhere close by to walk dogs. Dogs obviously cannot be exercised on site and there are signs up asking people not to exercise their dogs on the roads around the site as the neighbours have been complaining, (obviously the minority who do not pick up after their dogs spoiling it for the majority as usual!!). The road leading out of the site is surprisingly busy, particularly when trying to walk 2 large dogs, so we ended up having to put the dogs in the car every time they needed to go out and drive for 10 minutes to find a suitable field to walk them in. Just a small thing but thought I’d mention it anyway as obviously being a dog owner myself things like this are important! Overall though, a lovely site and highly recommended. We will definitely be back

Recommend

Stayed two motorhome nights in November 2013. Agree with all other comments about facilities and hospitality. Access for 6.5 metre motorhome very good from off A65 at Gargrave, access from Malham/Airton on B roads OK with care. Easy walk /run/bike ride along very quiet road north to Winterburn and reservoir. Walk to Skipton via Gargrave and Canal towpath, 2.5 hours one way gentle walking or 1 hour easy mountain bike ride on majority grass towpath with some tarmac nearer Skipton

Could not have wished for more. !

Arrived on the back of a breakdown truck, after leaving a clutch somewhere in Lincolnshire. !!! Problem - not at all. Mr Wellock sited the van with his Landrover, Mrs Wellock provided such basic things as food which we had intended to buy on arrival. Messages from the garage were taken at the house and the van stored for a week when we had to go home minus tow car. I cannot rate this site highly enough, from the perfect location and views, the space, the well kept, perfectly clean site and the facilities that were absolutely first class. Add to this owners who work hard at making you feel welcome, always willing to help and this is seriously the best CL we have stayed at. Reluctant to tell too many people about Seat House, just in case we cant get a booking the next time we return. And return we will, again and again !! Finally - a big thank you to Mr and Mrs Wellock - you helped to make what could have been a difficult week, to be one that was just really enjoyable. A first class site with a welcome to match.

Absolutely wonderful haven

Stayed here for 4 nights at end of July 2013, oh my goodness it's amazing, spotlessly manicured lawns, caravans in a long row too so not looking out onto anyone else. Owners very helpful in every aspect, what more could you ask for? A wooden picnic table at the side of your pitch perhaps? Already taken care of! Perfect!! Will return if can get booked in, it's extremely popular and for good reason. Gem of a CL, wish all sites could be as good.

Jewel in the Crown !!!

What can we add that hasn't been already mentioned...very little except to agree with everything. This is without doubt, the loveliest, most peaceful and tranquil site we have ever visited. The owners, Kath and Brian, are very friendly and always make you feel very welcome. The showers (free) and toilets are impeccable and there is always plenty of hot water. The bins are emptied every day, and the grass is of cricket pitch standard. There are many walks straight from the caravan door, and the Pennine Way is about 1/2 mile away We could say much more....but its all been said!!!.....This is the jewel in Yorkshires crown.....If CL's were lager this would be the best in the world!. Lovely peaceful surroundings, well equipped site, great location

This is a large CL (actually two separate fields each with 5 vans) in very peaceful scenic countryside. It offers more than the usual facilities for a CL, having a good quality toilet and shower block, though the large size of the site means some pitches (including ours) are quite a distance from the block. It is well laid out, with gravel tracks round the field and hardstandings. We found the location to be perfect for our needs, near Gargrave and the canal, and also near Malham. There is a very good farm shop at Airton.
