The CL is very spacious but there is another pitching area for 3 caravans that’s equally as good if not better it has just as good views and feels more private a nice walk through woods to Richmond but only for the reasonably fit as steep climb back up Richmond is lovely and the surrounding scenery can’t be beaten the walk to eastbound abbey is nice and flat along following the old railway track from the station the only slight criticism i have is the toilet its ln a portaloo type shed it was clean and did flush but was so cramped you could hardly move in it everything else was perfect

Just Gets Better and Better

We really love this site. It is in a lovely situation near Richmond, and lots of interesting places to visit locally. The village of Hudswell is friendly with the best pub we have ever visited, The George and Dragon. The Porters, who run the site are absolutely lovely, and really make you feel welcome. They have recently put in a couple of hardstandings, which are absolutely brilliant for motor homes, and make it a truly all year round site.

Will definitely be back

Perfect stay. Clear directions, easy access. Lovely views, fab dog walks on the doorstep. Super village shop & pub only a short walk away. Steady walk into Richmond then can get Little White Bus to drop you back at the site. Couldn’t ask for better. Thank you from Chris, Tony & Daisy Dog

One of the best....

A perfect MH stay with a pub and shop within a few minutes walk; walks in all directions straight from the site; a chance for your “in control’ dogs to do their stuff in the woods and all just a mile and a half walk from a town ! Having traveled far and wide in our MH it is great to find a place where you can stay hooked up and walk “off” , or stay onsite and just relax in the quiet seclusion. In these strange times we had a very welcome ‘socially distanced’ meet on arrival and then watched as they went quietly and attentively about keeping everyone safe disinfecting as people came and went And to cap it all it’s in the heart of ‘gods own country’ :-) We will be back

Lovely dog walking CL

Stayed 2 nights at this lovely CL. Len and Christine were lovely and kept a very neat and tidy CL with very safe covid measures in place. We had our dog with us so decided to have a walk to Richmond . Like the previous review there is a gate at the bottom of the site which if you turned right you go through a wood and across fields and style's and end up in Richmond , we then went on to Esaby Abby which was lovely . This CL is lovely and quiet and just a 5 minute walk from the site is The George and Dragon pub which is dog friendly and had a lovely beer garden with fabulous views . We will definitely stay here again .

Lovely peaceful site

We’ve spent a few nights at this site and we are lucky with the weather as we could enjoy the grassed areas. It is very well maintained and the owners are very helpful and welcoming. There is a gate at the bottom of the field which if you turn right and then across the fields is it more pleasant walk into Richmond and takes around 45 minutes. It will bring you out near the bridge. turn left at the gate will take you on the footpath through the woods and you can access the village from there. there are some very steep steps that take you down to the river. Turn right out of the site gate and a 15 to 20 minute brisk walk to the pub which does excellent food, definitely recommend the pies. There is a small shop next to it with limited opening times that stocks just about everything you need including some lovely local cheeses. The site is centrally located with easy access to Richmond, Northallerton, Leyburn, Bedale and a number of other places only a short drive away. There are some limited views but the outlook is very pleasant across a couple of fields. There is also areas of hardstanding in case it is bad weather. The site is very Covid safe with hand gel at all key points and we noted the owners spraying a couple of times a day key areas. Overall the site is a credit to the owners and a lovely quiet place to stay.

Fabulous

This is a beautiful site, immaculately kept by caring, friendly owners. Very peaceful, very Covid safe. Good walks direct from site, though a bit slippery in places on steep path down to the river. Nearby Richmond is a gem and the whole of Swaledale is on your doorstep. We will definitely be back.

Wow, what a lovely site

We arrived to find the owners waiting to greet us and explain where everything was and what precautions were in place for us to follow. We pitched at the bottom of the field with ease to find we had our own water tap with sanitiser to use which was brilliant so no more filling up the water! The site is beautifully clean and very quiet, instant access to the woods by way of a gate in the corner which was ideal for us as we have three very well behaved dogs who love nothing more than to rummage through the trees chasing rabbits who are way faster than them! The walk to the bottom of the woods greets the river Swale and the scenery is worth the challenging climb back up. The Chemical waste area was cleaned and disinfected every day and was very easy to use and so clean. A must stay site and we will be back. Thank you Mr and Mrs Porter for a very relaxing two weeks stay.

Excellent

Clean and tidy CL with a "deep in the countryside" feel, yet only ten minutes or less from Richmond. Hospitable welcome, and flexibility when extending stay. Outstanding pub in village.

Lovely CL

Stayed September 2019. This is a very spacious CL with well maintained grass pitches. We had EHU and a tap at our pitch. There is a small toilet, which we can’t comment on, as we use our own facilities. A gate at the bottom of the site leads directly to National Trust woodland, which is great for walks if you don’t suffer from vertigo! It is a 10 minute walk to an award winning, community owned, dog friendly village pub. Mrs Porter will send you detailed directions to the site, avoiding the worst of the steep hills and narrow lanes. Leyburn is worth visiting, especially on market day.
