Lovely little gem!!

Currently writing the review whilst at the site and 100% agree with the last review.. surprisingly nobody else here but it’s a nice little site.. the driveway and pitches are slate chippings and it’s level!! The meadow is great for the dog and it’s well located for so much in the area! Yes there is road noise from the main a590 but it’s easily bearable! Without doubt coming back here!

Pleasant CL

This is a nice CL with easy access although the Club sign is mostly hidden by plants so we very nearly missed the entrance. The pitches are smaller than they look in the pictures but separated by trees that are now a lot bigger. It seems the site is under new ownership, we only saw them the day we arrived. The site was very quiet while we were there, 3 of the 4 nights we stayed we were the only caravan. This seems a shame as it is ideally situated for visiting the southern lake district.

My first visit to any CL

This was my first visit to any CL. I visited this site during the heatwave end of June 2018. I wanted somewhere no more than a 90 minute drive from home in Fleetwood. I rang and left messages with another 2 sites. It was only this site that first responded, so I took it. In actual fact, it ended up being ideally situated for some road cycling. The pitches may be smaller than other sites, but that didn't bother me, I actually like a conversation with my neighbours. Some mentioned the services behind pitch 1. I wouldn't find this too intrusive. A bonus for pitch 1 is that it catches most of the sun and has no trees to cover your roof with tree sap. It had a little meadow with a grass path around it for dogs and a lovely vista of some hills. I've also heard much greater road noise from Club sites. Again this didn't bother me. It really is ideally situated for Windermere (North), Zizergh Castle (East) Cartmel and Grange (South) and many more towns and attractions (West). On arrival you are left to your own devices. A peacefully and tranquil retreat for sure. I can see me making this cosy gem a regular visit for a quick getaway. So don't all rush here at once, as I don't want to miss out on future bookings! Lol

Pleasant site but a few issues

Pleasant site but as another reviewer has stated, pitch one is very narrow. With the waste and water only a metre behind this pitch it does make it difficult for campers to access waste. To compound this the adjacent cottage has major renovation works in progress and during both our stays there were up to 10 work vans here trying to park in a very small area. This resulted in the early rising workman (6.45am) having to park very close to campers outfits. We would have appreciated prior knowledge of the disruption or a visit from site owners at sometime during both our short stays.

An old and loyal customer lost

stayed here several times and enjoyed every time, Sadly this time i got pitch one, a 26 foot van will not fit in it without over hanging the front, To get to the elsan, bins, or water, people would squeeze behind you van or if you put up an awning the other caravanners would need squeeze past that, the facilities are used by all users and are within 6 foot of your van, to make matters worse the pitch is not level, In our opinion pitch 1 is not fit for purpose due to the proximity of all the ammenities, If you book here confirm you DO NOT HAVE pitch one it is also very poor access to this pitch for larger outfits, unfortunately there was no one to greet us after 125miles 4hr journey, a holiday ruined

One of the nicest CL's in the UK

We have used this CL five times now, which in itself says something of our thoughts on this site. Close to the A590 makes access very easy from arrival or departure. A great welcome from Peter & Kathryn ( now firm friends) makes arrival a lovely experience. All the pitches are now fully newly re-chipped, providing good width for the van,car and awning with excellent drainage. If you use Pitch One, you are the closest to the services, and like many other CLs, other Caravanners will pass adjacent to your rig - not really a problem at all, as with all our visits a chat always ensues at some point or other over the stay. The open grassy wild meadow in front of all the vans is a delightful view, making the site very picturesque indeed. Access everywhere to the southern part of the Lakes from the site is easy. We have relatives who join us at Easter, so Peter & Kathryn B & B is just a few steps away from the site which makes the location a perfect spot for joint holidays. So what more can I say, like many many of all the reviews your experience in the Lakes will clearly be enhanced by staying at this wonderful CL.

Pleasant stay

Nice site with good views of surrounding area. Made very welcome by owners . Site is very well looked after. Noise from road was not bad and did not seem to bother either us or our neighbours. I'm afraid we have to agree with other reviews regarding pitch one in that we were concerned that we would disturb its occupants when we went to use the waste and chemical disposal. It is a pity that the fifth pitch could not somewhere else on the site. Nevertheless, we had a very enjoyable stay and would not hesitate to return.

We have just returned from a short break on this little site. Very welcoming and an excellent location for S.Lakes.

Very good location, self catering on same site

We were given a friendly and helpful welcome by Peter soon after arriving. I specifically chose Old Barn Farm as we wished to have a holiday with our daughter, son in law and grandchildren, and they were able to stay in the excellent barn conversion self catering cottage. The location was very good for what we wanted, being near Fell Foot Park, the steam railway to Lakeside and onward boat to Bowness, and with easy access along Lake Windermere to Bowness and Windermere town. We had a pleasant family meal at the nearby Swan Hotel / Inn. As a CL it has limitations, lacking a toilet, the service area very close to pitch 1 (we were on 2), the pitches (ours anyway), though helpfully hardstanding, too small to put up the awning and park the car, which had to stay at the front of the caravan slightly blocking the access drive. The road noise was just about tolerable but we were certainly aware of it at all times. Overall however, we enjoyed our stay amid beautiful scenery, helped by a week of lovely sunny weather.
