peace and quiet and owls

Stayed for 8 nights end of June. Having stayed before we knew to ignore sat nav and go direct to site, set up and pay later. Site is a large grass field that is well drained and cut. Pitches are on a slight slope but do not require levelling blocks. Waste disposal and clean water easily accessible at entrance to site. Very quiet site despite being part of a working farm with lots of horses. Wildlife everywhere including pheasants, geese, ducks and owls. Dog walks on and direct from site and no sign of dog mess left by inconsiderate owners. Site owner is rarely seen but she can be contacted via mobile phone if needed. Site ideally situated for exploring Wells and north Norfolk attractions Recommended.

Eventually a nice weekend

We arrived at site to find that our 2 booked pitches had been double booked by the owner ! After some discussion the owner offered us the use of her lawn at the side of the house ( which was nice and level unlike the CL site ). A electricity and water supply was cobbled together by us to both our caravans ( although the electricity supply was in constant need of 13 A fuses fitted by ourselves which was a pain ) After these issues we both enjoyed a nice weekend with good walks nearby ( Wells 1.5 miles and  local pub in Warham .5 miles )

Snow/Wind /Rain all in an Hour

Very warm & helpful meeting, after Sat Nav took us to goodness knows where. Site very well laid out clean & well maintained. (No dog poo) We have dogs so very keen to note this, great walks with the dogs. On the main beach of Wells no dogs, but follow the the wooded path (side of lower beach car park) and you have miles of open beach. The weather as from the heading you think of it and we had it in the 4 days we were on site, still had a few relaxing days.

Dog mess

We counted five piles of dog mess on this CL site.  I watched a dog trot onto the site this morning and add two more piles.  The dog turned out to be the owner's dog.  The owner doesn't show her face at all.  You are told by notice to put your money through the letterbox.  I called the owner to complain about the mess.  She said she had no idea but would clear it up.  My view is that if you're happy enough to take someone's money for a site, you have an obligation to make sure that site is clean and tidy and to stop your own dog from using it as a toilet.  During my telephone conversation the owner told me twice to make sure I paid for the pitch.  I would suggest this lady needs to care about the service she is providing. She should also make an effort to meet her visitors and check on the site she is so keen to take money for.  This morning the chemical waste disposal was blocked.  She would be unaware of this until someone could manage to track her down and tell her.

Lovely Quiet Site in Large Paddock

June 14. We arrived on site and set up at the top of the large field. Water, waste and recycling all convenient near to entrance to field. Superb views all around with barn owls, pheasants and oyster catchers regular visitors. Great dog walking areas and footpaths to Wells Next the Sea from site. Ideally placed for all the attractions of the north coast of Norfolk and down towards Norwich. Very quiet and peaceful site but would have preferred to have met the owner (Kirsty)rather than just post money though letter box. Thankyou. We would recommend this site.

Disappointed and let down.

I rang and asked a week before to see if there was a pitch available for Friday and Saturday night 30 and 31 May 2014 with electric hookup and was told there was one I offered my club membership no and was told not needed and was just asked for my phone number. I said it would be late afternoon or early evening when I would arrive, I arrived just after 1730 to find not 5 vans on the site but 7, 6 all using the electric points and no pitch available, . There was no one on site or at the farm house, I rang the number in the club book and got an answer phone giving another number to ring, this I did only to find another answer machine, I left a message saying I had arrived and that there was no pitch available as booked, I waited nearly an hour and no reply so I left the site. So beware when booking here you might not get what you bargained for, certainly not the caravan club site standard I have had as a 20 plus year member.

Peace and accessibility in North Norfolk

Although we have visited this area many times over the past 12 years we have been caravanning, this is the first time we have used this CL. It is delightful. A slightly sloping field adjacent to a working farm has a lovely outlook across farmland. The grass was kept cut short and it appeared to be well drained (not put to the test as we were very lucky with excellent weather). New hedging has been planted on three sides and there is a mature hedge/trees on the fourth. The access is via a farm track off the A149, which is far enough away for there to be no road noise. The track has a few potholes and undulations, but there is an adjoining grass 'bypass', which can be used in dry weather. Wells-next-the-Sea is only a few minutes drive away and there is easy access to all the many attractions of this coast. We recommend the Three Horseshoes pub at Wareham. It does excellent homecooked food, keeps excellent beer, and is dog friendly. The accurate directions to the CL (1 mile beyond the derestriction sign on leaving Wells along the A149) could be enhanced by adding that the turn is immediately before a square flintwalled house on the right. The usual injunction not to use a satnav for a final approach certainly applies in this case as my Tomtom directed me to approach from a road in Warham - not a good idea, as one visitor found while we were there! Lovely CL - we will return. Paul and Maggie (plus Stella the dog)

A perfect 10

We have stayed here many times now, love it and will keep coming back. The owners are there if you need them, but otherwise leave you in peace. It is a very beautiful place, quiet, fantastic views over the countryside and somewhere you can really unwind. Thank you Kirsty :)

Lovely Norfolk LocalPlacesOfInterest

We have stayed at this site a few times now and keep coming back as the location offers everything we require for a peaceful stay. We think some unfair comments have been made, this is a working farm and farmers are busy all the time, don’t expect a cup of tea on arrival and a welcome handshake and nor should you! This site is easy going peaceful and well located; a great pub is only 15 mins walk away through the farm. We have found the owners attentive and friendly, if not always easy to get hold of due to the problem with mobile phone signals in the area. You should not expect site owners to sit by a land line in case needed. The track and gateways are large and easy as long as you drive slowly, the plots are specious with easy hook up and there are nice tracks to walk your dog without the worry of passing traffic blasting by. It gets very dark so its worth having a flashlight handy if you need to venture out or return after dark.

Peaceful site

This site is in a beautiful rural setting, well off the road with plenty of room for each pitch. There is an excellent Coasthopper bus service to Wells, Holkam, Titchwell RSPB, Blakeney, etc., running about every half hour. The grass is cut short and disposal facilities are clean and well appointed. There are some very interesting adjacent old farm barns and resident barn owls, little owls and tawny owls. Owners are helpful but not intrusive. The gravel driveway is in a good state repair considering that this is a working farm. Although the price quoted in the Club website is from £10, we paid £12.50 in August, which seems reasonable. We look forward to coming here again.
