Relaxed one night stay

Just returned from a one night stay. We were treated with a very friendly welcome on this lovely site. Having just picked up our new van this was our Maiden trip enroute home. Will definitely return.

lovely cl

We have just returned from a visit to New Mills Marina. It is a lovely little site which we have used before. Sadly it is quite expensive for a CL which is quite off putting to use on a regular basis. in winter you could book on a caravan club site probably cheaper? it does however have very clean facilities 2 showers and toilets. (people from the boats use too) there is little room between caravans (motorhomes) not really room for awnings. The surrounding area is quite pretty with lots of walks. Pete and Heather the wardens are really lovely people and very helpful.

A gem of a site

A beautifully maintained site, all hard standing so ideal for year-round stays. We were give a very friendly welcome. Lovely, tranquil setting with views over the canal - but with shops and take-aways just a few minutes walk away. Good public transport links nearby - trains to Manchester and Buxton and bus stops for local services at the top of the road. A great base for exploring the Peak District.

Lovely all-weather site by canal and handy for Peak Walking

The CL is well maintained, and convenient for everything in the town - pubs, shops, transport etc. as well as being in reach of th surrounding countryside. New Mills Marina is an area of pale gravel so its usuable all year round. There was a slight slope so motorhomes would benefit from wedges if they prefer to stay level. The facilities are all well maintained and modern, there are two "bathrooms" each containing a shower, toilet and basin, one has a shower cubicle and the other bathroom is a large wet-room, and also has all the handles to make it accessible for people with disabilities - there there are a couple of 1/2 inch steps getting into the building though. The site has plenty of room for 5 units, as well as numerous berths for narrow boats. There is also some on-land holiday accomadation on site if you want to meet up with friends, a cottage the sleeps 2-4 and one that sleeps up to 10. We had a quick look the smaller cottage after it was cleaned for change over and it all looked clean and well maintained, with hard floors handy for walkers. The washing up facilities were outside under a roof in a sheltered corner; though there was no lighting above ankle height so washing up after dark required a head-torch (we were here in December, so thats most of the time!) but clean, modern and lots of hot water. There are numerous walks in New Mills and surrounding hills. There are two railway stations (one in New Mills and one in Newtown near the CL) and a bus station if you want to leave the van while exploring - or as we did - go for a long walk over Kinder and the get the train back. There is a micro-brewery on the same site as the CL too, selling a number of their own beers. Great all-year-round site in a town setting with good access to the hills.

Wonderful Site

First time here at New Mills Marina, but won't be our last. From the point of our arrival to the minute we left the wardens Pete and Heather were so helpful and accommodating with local advice and information it really helped to make our stay very pleasant. If you like walking or cycling the paths alongside the canal are a delight. Our 2 year old granddaughter had a wonderful time watching all the activities on the canal and feeding the ducks. Toilet and shower facilities excellent.

Brilliant

Love this site, we have visited several times, in all seasons. Such a friendly welcome from Heather and Pete. Just a couple of gripes.....They could do with separate toilets, at the moment there are only 2 (spotless) bathrooms, meaning that anyone just needing the loo, has to wait for anyone using the shower, not always a problem but at busy times it can be quite a wait. Also they could do with somewhere for waste disposal actually on the site itself rather than by the exit gates. The grey water disposal could also be made easier than it is at present. The area around is great for cycling, walking and sightseeing Great friendly pubs serving real ales all within walking distance. What could be better?

Perfection

Our second 2 week caravan holiday on this site. Toilets and showers immaculate, grounds neat and tidy. Wardens Pete and Heather are so helpful, and great fun too. Interesting watching many boats moving on the canal. We'll be back again soon that's a promise. D and J

Loved it

Really nice site, very clean facilities, the wardens (Pete & Heather) were extremely helpful and friendly. Lovely walk along the canal to the buxworth basin and a stop for lunch in the pub on way. Thank you Pete and Heather for a very enjoyable bank holiday weekend, looking forward to our next visit at August bank holiday, if not before!

The nearest thing to a club site.

Just about everything you would wish of a club site, but with space for only 5 pitches. Everything is kept in immaculate condition, thanks to the wardens who are very welcoming and helpful. This is an ideal CL for exploring the Peak Forest canal and its surrounding area and with Kinder Scout and the Pennine Way only a short distance away, we will not need much encouragement to be back again.

Great Cl

Just returned from a lovely weekend at New Mills Marina. Met by very friendly wardens, Pete even lent us a electric cable, ours somehow didn't get put back in the van. Large hard standing pitches over looking the narrow boats in the marina Very clean toilets and showers. A lot of thought as gone into this site even down to a hand sanitizer at the side of the Elson disposable points, little things that make a big difference. We will definitely be going back.
