Excellent CL near Welshpool

We had 4 nights at this excellent CL about 4 miles north of Welshpool, Powys to kick start our 2021 season. Booking was straightforward and arrival instructions clear. The CL is sited about a mile down a single track road off the main A483. There are only a couple of houses and a couple of farms so you'll be unlucky meeting any traffic. Also helps with any noise from the road. Access to the CL is through a double gate and sufficient room if taken with a bit of care, then a swing around to enter a large paddock field for the CL. All 5 pitches have a lot of space. The surface is grass and I'm reliably informed that it hardens up as the season progresses. It was a tad soft this early but the owner has provided flexible mats for siting the units on. Each pitch has it's own water supply and EHU is 2 to a bollard. The owner sanitises each tap for new occupants. Waste water is into the ditch. Toilet emptying is adjacent to Owners house, at the rear. Waist high and into a toilet covered with a board. Tap adjacent. Recycling is required but the bins are provided. Found near the gate entrance to the CL. The Owner is friendly and helpful. She has laminated several walks, both from the site and in the nearby countryside for guests use. Found in a black box by the gate, as is a book for leaving your details for Trace and Test. The Montgomery Canal is just the other side of the A483 for walkers and cyclists and Welshpool has 4 main supermarkets as well as plenty of independent ones. Powis Castle is on the edge of town, and in fact could be walked to from town centre through the estate. Excellent walking and cycling in the area. Buses can be caught from the main road, ask the owner for details. Any downside? Just the one. There is a quarry of sorts by Rodneys Pillar (local landmark seen from site). Whilst there was no blasting we did hear them breaking rocks at some odd times, even up to 11 at night and from 6 in the morning, then nothing during the day. It was the first week back after lockdown so they may just be catching up. Didn't interrupt our sleep. Keep an eye out for the Little Owls and Barn Owls and Tawnies are both in the area. A really enjoyable stay enhanced by borrowing some walks from the owner and a visit to Gregynon Hall near Newtown. Geraldine is an amiable host and her 2 Pygmy Goats are splendid helpers. Hope to be able to use this site again.

A beautiful place to stay

What a delightful place! Huge pitches, each with its own electricity and water supply in beautiful, peaceful countryside with easy access to lots of interesting places to visit. The owner, Geraldine is a lovely lady and the two, very gentle and friendly resident goats, Peter and Gretel, add the final touch. We can't recommend this place highly enough.

Lovely site with very helpful owner

We stayed here in September for 4 nights. We were greeted by Geraldine and her pygmy goats Peter and Gretel.Geraldine was really friendly and helpful and the goats were so cute, our little dog wanted to play with them! Great location near enough to the main road but peaceful too. We were the only people there at the time but the site is large enough to have your own space if it were full.

Very nice and neat site with very helpful owner

This is a lovely site with a very welcoming and thoughtful owner. You will need transport to get most places but there is easy access if walking the Offas Dyke path between LLanymynech and Welshpool. The Pygmy goats (Peter and Gretel) are very entertaining and will do tricks for (unsalted) peanuts. Plenty of great places to visit within 20mls radius.

Perfect retreat but with lots to discover*****

We have passed through this area so many times and never actually stopped. This time we are so glad we did. This is a wonderful area of Wales, so many lovely walks and places of interest. The site has lovely views and specious pitches, as previously mentioned Geraldine is a wonderful friendly and helpful owner who is happy to guide you to places of interest and her goats Peter and Gretal are a gorgeous addition to this beautiful, homely *****star CL.

Very good CL site

You will find a (sunny) and beautifully maintained site, featuring very generous pitch sizes with water and hookup at each pitch. Easy access to the towpath along the Montgomery Canal which is both meanderingly scenic and of high wildlife value. There's a great bike ride south along the canal to Welshpool and to the outstanding gardens at Powys Castle. Northwards, the canal towpath arrives at Llanymynech Rocks Nature Reserve and Historical Site. Both 5 star destinations! Geraldine is very knowlegable, friendly and helpful and her 2 dwarf goats keep the hedges trimmed (up to goat height). Highly Recommended. July 1st to 4th 2019

Great site for motorhomes

Just had a great weekend visiting this peaceful site. Meadow cottage as easy access, large level pitches ( NO levelling blocks required) the grass is cut short and collected and plenty of water taps. There is superb views in all directions. A 25 minute walk takes you to the newly restored Montgomery Canel the towpath / cycle path is fantastic teaming with wildlife. Also a 5 minute drive takes you to Rodneys pillar free car park with ample parking for motorhomes a great walk with fab views.A short distance from there is the The Admiral Rodney pub well worth a visit serving freshly prepared food motorhome parking no problem.

Lovely Peaceful Weekend

Just come back from this lovely CL - and we are planning a longer visit very soon. It is so peaceful and the scenery is stunning. Despite the rainy weather making the grass wet, the field is like a lawn. We parked up easily using the hard standing pitch to save the grass. We were greeted by the lovely Geraldine and her amazing Pigmy Goats, Gretel and Peter, who are both very friendly and just love Peanuts!!!! This CL is in a stunning position, definitely a great place for relaxing and chilling out but still near enough to towns and anything you might want to visit in this area. We will definitely be back for a longer stay. This is a peaceful site and great for getting away from the at racel. Make sure you put it on your list for a visit.

A lovely CL

We recently returned from Meadow Cottage, this having been our second visit to this quiet and peaceful CL. Geraldine, the owner, is most welcoming and extremely helpful. She is also very informative about the local area, and this time it was a treat to meet her two pygmy goats, Peter and Gretel. This CL really is a gem and not to be missed.

Perfect Stay

We stayed at Meadow Cottage for 11 nights. This site is well cared for and immaculate. We had a very warm welcome from Geraldine who was on hand to show us site facilities etc. We were introduced to the lovely Pygmy Goats, Gretel and Peter, who provided much entertainment and the chickens who provided us with fresh eggs for our breakfasts! Geraldine provided us with masses of information as to local facilities, walks, cycling and other activities. This site was perfect for us. Quiet, surrounded by farmland but with easy access to walks and cycling. We made ready use of the Montgomery Canal tow path for our cycling expeditions. Geraldine was very welcoming, informative, and really cared about everything without being intrusive in the least. Perfect and highly recommended Lewis and Amanda
