Great for the ferry

We stayed here for a weekend in August prior to catching the ferry to France. Owners were friendly and helpful. As said in a previous review be careful approaching as the site is not well signposted from the road. Facilities were clean and well presented. Spacious pitches and quiet. Well positioned for visiting Portsmouth, Southampton and other local attractions. We enjoyed our brief stay and will return in the future.

What a disappointment

Stopped off here for just the one night after our return from France and after reading such positive reviews were looking forward to our rest at this CL. What a let down. We were met at the gate by the owner who politely said he was busy but showed us to a hardstanding area squeezed between two caravans. The area in front of us was grass but was mostly taken up by a large caravan with a large awning. The so called hardstanding area was large stone, lumpy and wholly unsuitable for an awning had we wanted to put one up. Whatever happened to the 4 acre open meadow????? A joke!! The sloppy, haphazard manner in which the units were thrown together was quite inexplicable and unnecessary. We were very pleased to leave and will not be returning.

Handy for Ferry

Lovely little site , hardstanding pitches , lovely clean facilities and friendly people . Short drive to Red funnel terminal (southampton) for I-O-W ferry . Only word of caution is to approach site entrance slowly as entrance not prominently signposted due to overgrown hedges by main road (I nearly turned in too early into cul de sac) . Bumpy drive , so go slowly , then security gates at bottom (great for peace of mind)

Great place for an overnight stop before catching a ferry from Portsmouth

Used as an overnight stop before catching a ferry. Friendly welcome, large pitch and very adequate facilities. No wonder the site featured in the CL 2017 awards. Easy access and no noise. The White Horse Inn with reasonably priced meals a 6 minute walk away – depending on the day might be best to book. Brittany Ferries is an easy 35 minute (outside rush hour) drive.

All round perfection!

From the moment we arrived through the secure electric gates we were made to feel very welcome. Perfect scenery and perfect hard standing. The on-site toilet and shower and very clean and even facilities to use a washing machine/ tumble drier if you wish. The fairy garden is beautiful of which our children thoroughly enjoyed. We booked a stay of 5 nights and loved it that much we stayed an extra night and have already booked for summer. So much to do within a short distance and we highly recommend this site 10/10.

Always Made Welcome

This is a great little CL at the end of a lane and only a short distance from a great pub (dog friendly), a fish and chip shop and a large Morrisons. The town of Totton is just down the road on the way to Southampton and the M27 no more than ten minutes away and so all in all a great location for getting around. The owners are very welcoming and always try to ensure that your stay is a good one. The site has security gates with a pass code and so not open to all. We have now stayed here several times and feel that it is great value for money. Apart from the hard standings there is more than ample room to walk your dog around the big field. Every time we visit we can see the way the site is improving and developing, and feel sure that once finished it really will be a first rate place. If I had to be picky I would say that the shower room can be a tad cold in the winter. All things considered though a great stopover.

Great Stopover

We had a 1 night stay on Saturday 8th December as we were off to see a show at the Mayflower. The site is easy to find and feels secure with the gated entrance and happy that we were able to catch a bus into Southampton easily. Although Tim and Catherine were away that weekend, the communication channels were very much open with Tim emailing and texting before our arrival and again the afternoon we left to make sure everything had gone ok. The site was clean and facilities were great and we’ll definitely be back and will hopefully get to meet the host next time!

More than just a CL.....

This is our second visit to Meadow Bank and wow what a difference two years can make. The site has really improved since our last visit with landscaping, new buildings and a refurbished toilet/shower room! This site is in a great location for so many different reasons. The New Forest accessibility, the Lymington market and quayside and the Isle of Wight ferry crossings to mention just a few. The welcome you receive here any time of day or night is above and beyond, as are the facilities the site has to offer. To have a shower, toilet, washing machine and utilities on a CL site is just great. Most CL's we have visited are just a site to park up on in our motorhome,in a field with electric. Meadow Bank offer so much more, with a warm welcome from Tim and Catherine to top it off. We ended up extending our one night stay to three nights here as we knew it was good value for money and we loved the location so much. We will definitely be returning again and look forward to another catchup with Tim and Catherine.

Overnight Stay

We used this site on 17 Oct 2018 as the only place we could find to takes us on our return from Spain on the Santander Ferry. We were concerned as our arrival at the port was not until 20:45 and the boat then had to be unloaded and custom checks completed prior to leaving the port so we knew that we could arrive very late at night. Tim and his wife could not have been more helpfull and ensured that no matter what time we arrived we would have access. The site is quite small but the piches themselves are large enough for our 7.7m caravan and Landrover Discovery. The electricity supply at 10 Amps caused us now problems and worked with our large electric kettle that had blown the fuze at a couple of other sites. The toilet and shower were clean and well lit but there was only one of each however, the site has only a few pitches so this was not a problem for us. The only problem we encounterred is that we arrived at night and there was no signpost to the site at the end of the lane. We phoned Tim up and he came out and shone his torch so we could see the correct lane to take. We only stayed for one night but we found the place more than adequate and the owner very helpfull, we will be staying there again both before and after our trips to Spain And Portugal

Another lovely stay

This is our second visit and what a lot of improvements Tim and Catherine are making. All the hard standings have all been replaced although grass pitches with electric are still available if you wish. They are very busy landscaping the garden which includes conifer screening for their privacy and ours. The view from the site is over a mown field to trees and beyond, lovely. To have a shower, toilet, washing machine, dryer and sink available is fantastic for a cl. We are looking forward to returning next year to see the completion of all the improvements. Reg and Carol 😊😊😊😊
