Tranquil site

A beautiful spacious site and so peaceful. We were greeted by the lady of the house who gave the choice of pitch to ourselves. Had a nice chat with her about the history of the farm her and how long her family had lived there. Obviously she has lots of local knowledge and welcomed questions. It doesn’t matter where you pitch on this site you will have nice views and ample space. The site is well away from the road and very secure. We have a well behaved dog and he was able to wonder and play outside of our caravan off lead and without being distracted by others, definitely a bonus for him! Walk into town is 20 minutes through part field and narrow footpath along main rd. Ludlow town is lovely having the Castle and regular market days. Worth walking down the hill at bottom of castle if it’s a warm day as it’s nice sitting by the water and good doggy paddling. Check out market days in Ludlow as they are worth a visit with lots of local produce. Too many places to mention as regards where else in the area to visit. I’d suggest do your research before you leave home as you’ll be spoilt for choice otherwise. I think it’s worth us all remembering and being grateful and having respect for farm farm owners that allow us to stay in such lovely locations as this, for obvious reasons they are putting trust in us allowing us to be based on there property. We would definitely return.

Lovely Site

This is a lovely peaceful site set in an old orchard with large areas of wild flower meadow. Great views of local countryside and easy access for walking. Pitches all have electric and water and are well spaced out so you are hardly aware of over caravans. Some pitches are on a slope whilst others are flat on hard standing. Great location for visiting Ludlow and other local attractions. Owner was very helpful on arrival and showed us to our pitch.

Wow the absolute worst welcome we’ve ever had in 20 years caravanning

I generally don’t do reviews but after a pretty shocking experience I just to hard warn others. Wow where to start - we booked this site back in December for a stay 2 weeks ago. We’d duly paid the deposit and the balance in plenty of time and received no comms, confirmation, info about the protocol for arriving at all SO… We duly rocked up at about 1pm on our arrival day, made our way up to the site entrance stopped at the big sign that was very unclear about instructions for arrival so we promptly headed on to the site as we’ve done many times before on CLs thought we’d get pitched up and then advise the hosts of our arrival spotted a couple of empty pitches and started to pitch up. Well 20mins to that in a screaming shouty and frankly damn right rude and aggressive woman came on to the site shouting at us and accusing us of trespassing, throwing shouty comments at us about who do we think we are just pulling onto the site without checking with them 1st. Well obviously we apologised profusely for the confusion and explained we had no other instructions from them but no that wasn’t good enough and she continued to verbally abuse us, when calmly asked what she’d like us to do now she threw out a ‘I want you to leave’ statement. After many more apologies she went on to say clearly she should have called us to confirm details but she hadn’t so not our fault, she then suggested it was our fault for booking so far in advance and why did we do that, she even then continued to try and blame us for the confusion. Numerous times I asked what would she like us to do or move to another pitch for instance but she just couldn’t get over her anger over the confusion caused by them. 20 minutes this went in for until I finally insisted we’d just move pitches to a grass one she had suggested was where she wanted us. Well if you want a nice visit to Ludlow and south Shropshire then fill your boots it’s a lovely location BUT definitely dont stay here unless you want your head biting off by a frankly rude, aggressive and horrible woman to kick start your trip. It didn’t spoil our trip why would it it wasn’t us that was apocoliptic over a nothing issue. We will never go back to this site I’m afraid after such a shocking verbal attack. And to top it off this CL is breaking the rules by having more than 5 units staying there at any one time oops appears they can’t count either. Avoid the place like the plague.

Just the perfect CL

This large tranquil site is just the most perfect way to enjoy the wonderful town of Ludlow. The helpful owner will take you to the best pitch for your unit and make sure all is well. Then you may relax amongst the orchard, enjoying the peace and quiet. Bliss.

One of the best sites we have stayed on!!!!

Hucks Barn is a lovely site, this the second time we have stayed there, it is set in an orchard, pitches are spaced out so you can hardly se your neighbour, paths are kept mowed but areas for wild flowers and insect are let to grow. Ideal for dogs, footpaths direct from the top of the site. Easy walk into Ludlow, we hope to be back before too long, ignore the comments re the site owners we were made welcome, just wait to shown your pitch.

Enjoyed the overall experience.

Interesting reviews by people; and after talking to owner when booking on phone I was apprehensive of our meeting when we arrived. She is just direct and has her own way in communication. (The old addage don't judge a book by it cover).I found this not a problem and was shown to our allocated spot. Loads of room separated each L' and water point. Take levelling blocks the site is a on a slope. In amongst trees and hedge rows the site is very quiet. It has easy access to lots of foot paths. The old drove which takes you to the road half way to Ludlow. Side walk along the road for the rest of a 25 minute walk in total. Ideally suited for Ludlow. There was quite a few horse flies so take a repellent but proved not a problem overall. We enjoyed our stay overall on this spacious ideally sited site. With a friendly wave as we left it was easy access to the main carriageways and off.

Fantastic site, less than optimal interpersonal skills

We stayed at this site in 2022. I was livid at my experience on the first day. Being called a idiot for not stopping at the exact spot where the lady said when we first arrived to being spoken to in a condescending manner by a gentleman who presumably was sent by the matriarch to "help" us park up but kept standing in the way when I was manoeuvring making it impossible. I was all set to leave the site without even asking for a refund but my wife wouldn't! On the upside, we didn't see our bellicose hosts again for the next four days until we left. That said it is a really excellent site. Others may well have different experiences and if you want to go to Ludlow, definitely consider it. However, I am unlikely to be going again and definitely not if its an extra fiver a day for electric. I barely use any.

Small quiet Site

I can't deny it, having read the reviews and having spoken to the owner before making the booking, I was a little apprehensive to meet her! However, she proved to be quite jolly, although a little direct and quite firm in her instructions! The site is lovely and quiet with good views and easy access into Ludlow town, following the track at the back of the campsite. It was nice to have a water hose next to the electricity point. Now the downside..... we were rather taken aback when we arrived to be asked for a further £5.00 per night due to "the cost of the electric!" Whilst I appreciate that this should be taken into consideration, I do not feel that this site warrants this amount of payment. We were happy to pay £24 per night, and understood at the time of booking that we would have to use our own facilities. However, to pay £29 per night for what we had, I feel was a little overpriced. There are no shower or toilet facilities, washing up or laundry area, or an information hut. Having paid the full amount at the time of booking, we felt we had no alternative without spoiling our break, to pay the extra, £5 per night, although I feel we should have been notified of this before travelling to the site.

Ignore bad reviews, the place and lady are lovely

We needed to stay near Ludlow for a night and we saw Huck's Barn Farm and were compelled to stay there by the mixed reviews where it would appear the owner is Marmite. We are happy to say we are lovers of Marmite and will definitely stay there again when we have more time for a few days. The access is really easy and upon arriving we were greeted by the owner who proceeded to walk us up the field and gave us good advice to drive our motorhome up the gravel road, turn and travel downhill to our fairly level hardstanding pitch to avoid getting stuck as it was the end of October. This is probably why she likes to meet people at the entrance. In summer there would be no problem as the slightly sloping site is fairly well drained. The fee could be cheaper but we only stayed one night this time and it is cheaper to stay longer. It is also worth remembering there is easily enough room for double or treble the number of caravan/motorhomes if it were allowed. The site is set in an orchard and is very pretty with nice views. The pathway from her site is really useful and walking briskly the edge of Ludlow is only 15 minutes

Wonderful peaceful CL on the edge of Ludlow

Had a one night stay at this lovely site. A warm welcome from the owner who gave us an over view of the site and facilities. It really is in a little orchard with plenty of space between pitches. If you follow the footpath and not the driveway it’s a 20 minute walk into Ludlow with all its shops and bars etc. Our only disappointment was we were not staying longer. We love this area and would definitely use this site again. Please note: I couldn’t find this site on the CL.booking website - even using the site name.
