Fantastic Stay

Stayed here in between Christmas and New Year 2012 and had a lovely time. Pete and Jenny were so helpful and welcoming, even towing our caravan into position and unloading our luggage as the entrance to the site was too muddy for our car to get in! Easy access to Bath & Bristol and lots of lovely pubs to be found locally. Didn't find the noise from the M4 obtrusive at all. Lovely situation surrounded by trees. Would highly recommend.

A little Gem

I was very surprised to read the first part of the previous review as my opinion of this CL is very different. This may be because I normally use basic sites, ie those that do not have EHU’s or any other extra facilities, & so my expectations may be different. Whilst it is still possible to find some basic CL’s for £5 - £8 a night, £10 or £12 is becoming the norm, often depending on the location. When EHU’s are provided & the cost of electric included, as on this site, I do not think £14 is excessive. It’ll take many years to recover the cost of installing & maintaining the EHU’s. I found both Peter & Jenny to be most pleasant & helpful. It is a lovely quiet, secluded CL in an ideal location. Yes, road noise can just about be heard, but it is by no means intrusive even when sitting outside. As I was using the M4 / M5 to travel to Devon & wanted to stop over near the centre of Bristol for a few days I found this to be an ideal site. I certainly hope to use it again when next visiting Bristol.

Not quite as expected.

This a basic CL providing E.H.U, water and black waste disposal, the noise from the nearby motorway/ road network was throughout our stay of three days, incessant and the cost per night £14 is in my opinion over priced. Despite this being our first visit Peter one of the owners failed to explain where grey waste (hedge bottom) and black waste (hidden behind owners caravan) disposal places were located

On a more positive note the CL is within walking distance of 3 pubs, 2 of which provide food, also there are some very nice walks directly from the site,( Frome Valley Walkway). Bristol and it's attractions is an easy place to visit, due to the nearby motorway M32 junction or via public transport which is within easy walking distance.

Will we return. doubtful.

A lovely welcome

We stayed for 3 nights in February and received a very warm welcome - hot really as lovely cups of tea were brought over to us as we set up! Jenny and Peter are perfect hosts and Bertie played his part too by looking after our puppy. The drive into Bristol is easy but as we weren't on a sightseeing trip we didn't see much else. I can recommend the Golden Heart in Winterbourne for a good meal out. We will definitely go back :-)

ideal stopover or visiting Bristol

checked out this site a month before our visit in dry sunny conditions. it seemed ideal for our object of visiting family etc, Just before our visit, after some very heavy rain, we were kindly phoned by Jenny to ensure we had a 4x4 as the field entrance had turned into mud-bath. Although there were some hardstandings, we were on grass, the field stood up well to vehicle traffic, with only the access getting muddy. The site was perfectly situated for our needs with the noise from the motorway failing to prevent us getting a good nights sleep. The only downside was the damp/misty/wet weather, but then no-one controls that & it was Autumn in Britain. I hope the weather is better when we return.

Great site for Bristol and surrounding areas and close to m5 & m4

We stayed for one night at this site in early September. Jenny, Peter and Bertie the dog could not have been more hospitable. The site if flat, in a lovely grass paddock. Very child friendly and it is clear that the site is well cared for and looked after. As other reviews mention there is some noise from the motorway, but after a few minutes we didn't really notice it - definitely not a reason to stay away.

New CL good for Bristol, Bath etc

This CL is new this year. Peter and Jenny (and Bertie the dog) are very welcoming and willing to help. We first stayed there during the very wet weather in early July and were impressed by how dry the site was. It is at the top of a hill and therefore well drained. There is both hardstanding and grass, which is kept very tidy by the owners. Access to the site is excellent with a long pull-in off the road before you get to a padlocked gate. There are lots of walks from the site and there are some lovely views across the hills. Villages, lovely houses and good pubs are all round. The only drawback to this site is that it sits above the motorway and, consequently, there is some road noise. However, as with all the other noises around these days, we got very used to it and after a day or so it was just a rumble in the background. We were never kept awake at night. We have been to this site twice and will return ; it is just so convenient and pleasant.
