Nice Site - roadworks at present

This is a very nice and tidy site with very friendly owner who even offered us a cup of tea on arrival. It is very handy for access to Bristol. Unfortunately there are roadworks in the area which has necessitated the access route being changed and it is now very difficult to get to the site. The revised route requires navigating a very narrow single track steep hill, a very narrow bridge and a tight bend around a house at the end of the bridge. We were in a motorhome and just managed to get in but a fellow member with a caravan damaged his motor-mover on the access route. In addition there was constant road noise from the nearby motorway.

Comment from the Club:

The CL owner has been in touch as she wanted to reassure people visiting the site. The CL owners have worked closely with the local council who have been very helpful in providing additional, appropriate signage to reach Moorend to make it as easy as possible to access the site whilst the roadworks are in place. The bridge is 10 feet wide so caravanners and motorhomers should not experience any problems and tractors and delivery lorries are using the route without difficulty however if any visitors do have any concerns please feel free to contact the CL owner for advice and information regarding another route with a wider bridge. The road closures have also ensured that traffic in Moorend is now dramatically reduced.

If the wind is strong and from the south west you will hear the motorway however the CL owner hopes that their efforts to provide a pleasant and welcoming environment for the duration of people’s stay will be appreciated as they try really hard to ensure guests have the best possible time on their site.

Well recommended- homely and helpful!

Stayed for 3 nights recently, nothing is too much trouble for the owners!. Very nice countryside and short walks to various pubs with nice food (White Horse and Golden Heart are very good). Spacious site and easy to get into Bristol if you need to. Excellent value for money!

Great site for Bristol

SmileWe stayed here for two nights in our VW . Followed the instructions in the book and found the site easily. Roads are quite narrow in places but no problem if you take care. Jenny and Peter made us very welcome and Jenny even offered us a cup of tea, which we accepted! Lovely walks around including an Iron Age hillfort. We had a great lunch at The Golden Heart pub too. We will be back again soon! Thanks Jenny and Peter.

Bristol Ballon Fest!

We booked here so we could go to the Bristol Balloon Fest. The approach road to the site is very narrow, but with care is easily done (do follow the members books instructions, not the Sat nav’s). The gate way is well planned, and we got in without any fuss. The lady owner(Jenny) came out, but I in my haste to get setup after a rather trying journey down to the site.. took a liberty and was asked to move if i didn't mind, she thought I was upset, because she needed to move me over, l can say that I was not and was happy to get a position that allowed spacing for all. Jenny offered us a cup of tea, which I turned down, but it was a very kind gesture. The site is very well set out and of a good size. The water tap is somewhat high up, but I noted later there is a long hose hung up for members to use, as well as extra hook up cables if needed. We loved the level grass in a very rural area, but it is hard to believe that just 5 minutes or so away is that mass of Bristol with all it offers. There is the hum of traffic from the motorway, but this was the main reason we chose this CL as it offered easy access to the road network. I have added this CL into my satnav for future reference, because I would like to do more in the area sometime else.

From Bridget and Richard

Without doubt the best CL we have stayed on. We were made very welcome by Jenny and Peter and enjoyed a peaceful couple of days. There are some interesting walks nearby and for those with more time all that Bristol has to offer.

Good for Bristol.

A basic site, put in hard standing up in corner due to grass being wet close to other vans The owners very pleasant offered cup of tea on arrival. Expensive for what you got , but excellent for us as visiting friends . Bristol close by easy from motorways. Very narrow lanes even in small motorhome. follow instructions on how to get their.

Highly recommend

We stayed at this CL just before Christmas for 2 weeks and would highly recommend it.  Jenny and Peter are excellent hosts, even welcoming us with a cup of tea while we set up which was a first for us.  They made us and our dog very welcome and went out of their way to be kind and helpful.  The location is close for Bristol but you still feel you are in the country.  There are some windy lanes to be aware of and you can hear the motorway, but that did not bother us.  Lovely walks nearby although our dogs preference was for the Snuff Mills which is a short drive away. We would definately stay here again.

Bristol calling.

Once again,We stayed at Jenny & Perters GREEN GABLES C.L. We always get a warm welcome and the offer of a cuppa on arrival. We love being able to do our own thing without numerous regs. and notices, our dogs also love the freedom and space. This visit Peter told us to help ourselves to apples from his numerous trees which our daughter made into a huge apple pie, sorry Pete and Jenny we eat it all. A wonderful time, we will be back asap

Ideal for visiting Bristol

We have just returned from our second stay at Green Gables. The CL is ideally located to visit Bristol and its many interesting features or as a stop over when travelling either East/west or North/south. The CL is set in a large field which has plenty of open space for pets and children and generates a relaxed atmosphere. The owners were most welcoming on our arrival and obliging without being intrusive during our stay. We will definitely stay here again and would not hesitate to recommend the site to others

Very hospitable owners

Peter and Jenny make you so welcome and nothing is too much trouble to make your stay pleasurable. The children and dog love the site! For us it sets the benchmark for how a CL should be run and managed. It is a relaxed atmosphere, where you are really made to feel at home. Thoroughly recommend this site for visiting the Bristol area.
