A warm welcome on a rainy night

I arrived at this site after a long drive with 2 of my sons. Having had an issue at a diesel petrol pump at the services, I was covered in diesel and the owners kindly offered to let me use their shower in their own home to clean up. I then had a problem with filling up our van with water and they were to the rescue straightaway, it was cold, pitch black and raining and the welcome they gave us could not have been better. We had to leave very early the next morning which again was no issue for them to get the gate opened for us. A quick stay so sadly didn't get to appreciate the surrounding area, but thank you so much to Susie and Steve for their friendliness and helpfulness.

OUR RECENT VISIT

This is a lovely site with beautiful rural views, everything needed is supplied, and we endorse all the positive comments already made by previous visitors. In fairness we have to say that if you are the type of persons who can ignore a lot of loud frequent noise overhead from low flying planes then this is the perfect CL for you. Similarly this is the site for you if WiFi is unimportant to you. We can only speak as we found and the WiFi signal for us was at best, intermittent, and we were there with only one other van whose occupants were away every day and only came back to sleep in their van. Regarding the planes, admittedly we were there at a very busy holiday time of year, so maybe it’s less busy overhead at other times in the year. I reiterate again the site and surrounding countryside is excellent.

Nice stopover

This was a stopover for 2 nights for us on our way down South. We arrived at the site and received a welcome from the owner who explained the facilities and gave us a fob to be used after 8pm on the electronic gate. We initially were the only unit on site and had a choice of the hardstanding pitches. Lovely views over fields. The weather was glorious sunshine. The information hut had a printed out map for the dog walks, which were great, especially the one just about directly across from the site entrance. We were later joined by a single person in a motorhome who just stayed one night. The second night a Dutch couple stayed for one night on their way back home. We only left the site to walk our 3 dogs as it was too hot to go anywhere with them or leave them in the van (not a complaint). After 2 nights we moved on to Dorset. The only thing to be aware of is it is on the flightpath for Birmingham airport and so there are a very large number of planes passing overhead.

Gate Farm

We stayed here for a week and were delighted with the site. Hard standings were level and all services were readily accessible - the WC disposal point was very easy to use. The owners made us very welcome and were helpful in the information they were able to give us regarding points of local interest. During our stay we visited the National Arboretum, Coventry, Willenhall to visit friends and Kenilworth Castle, a very worthwhile visit with lovely views from the ramparts. The site is on the flight path to Birmingham airport and there are varying degrees of aircraft noise but the frequency is variable and there are long periods of tranquility without any road traffic noise whatsoever. The dawn chorus was delightful and there are many birds in the area, the farm is run on organic lines and wildlife is plentiful. The surrounding Warwickshire countryside was at it's early summer best and there are plenty of good walks from the site, very suitable for dog owners. We will certainly be visiting again.

A Real Gem

After a busy working week this site was the perfect tonic for us. The distant sound of sheep and beautiful countryside views. So much to do locally or simply just enjoy the vista and chill. The aircrafts did not bother us whatsoever in fact we rather enjoyed a bit of plane spotting. We ventured to Warwick and meandered along the river with an ice cream in hand. Finished off the evening with a very nice wholesome meal in the Saracen's Head. Looking forward to returning again soon and enjoying one of the local country walks. Many thanks to Susie, Steve and all the family for sharing your lovely home.

First class

Just had a lovely week at Gate Farm, our third stay. Susie and Steve have done a great job laying out the hard standings to give a lovely view across the landscape. They make you feel so welcome from the moment you arrive and the services have been arranged within easy reach of all pitches. The farm is within easy reach of the NEC, Warwick, Stratford and Kenilworth as well as the shopping mall at Solihull. An added bonus is Bertie’s sausage, bacon and eggs right on site. Wish we could be there for the Gate Farm Christmas event on the 26th Nov. sounds like fun. Oh well, maybe next year.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

Have just had such a fantastic weekend staying in a lovely, peaceful site which is clearly well-loved and well-planned out! We were greeted on arrival and instantly felt at home and all arrangements were clearly explained. A really well laid out site with everything you need and all well facilitated. Loved the attention to detail for the refuse and recycling situation and all very tidy and well cared for. Thought the Information shed was a great idea and added a read homely feel to it. The owners were so friendly and adorable and there is clearly a family run feel to it which adds to the ambience. The views over the fields with the horses was just beautiful and easy access to lots of lovely walks with the dog. A great position for going off and exploring so much which is available in the area. There were planes but they really, really didn't intrude, even for me as a light sleeper! We will definitely be going back to this site for more exploration around the area! Loved it!!!!!

Excellent CL

We were well impressed with this new CL. Susie and her husband have obviously invested well in this property, including a secure gate-entry system. I found the map of footpaths was extremely useful. It is a handy base for dropping my wife at the local Berkswell station for a train to the NEC.

Fantastic weekend

Arrived on Friday afternoon to be met by owner who explained where everything was and gave us a map of local footpaths for dog walking. Very impressed with site, very clean. Well spaced out hardstanding pitches. We found the planes fascinating especially after downloading the ap recommended on site to see where the planes had come from. Didn't find the noise a problem. Another bonus was being able to see the stars. We visited Kenilworth Castle and took a walk along the 21 locks at Hatton. We will defiantly use this site again.
