Absolutely Idyilic

Having primarily used CL’s over the years, this has to be the best we have ever come across, so much so that a planned four day visit turned into a fortnight. The new owners Brian and Alison go to great lengths to welcome you and see you get set up without hassle. They are continuing to improve the already excellent facilities of this little gem of a site, with a planned Doggy Day Care, so you can visit local places of interest without the worry of leaving dogs in the car. (A service that was prematurely tested when I was rushed to hospital with a suspected heart attack, which fortunately was a false alarm!) Alison immediately took our two dogs into care so my wife could travel with me, fed watered, and walked them until our return some eight hours later. For which we are extremely grateful. You can also rent their own caravan for your non caravanning family or friends to give them a taste of what we all enjoy so much. And with piped in water and grey waste it couldn’t be easier. The lovely village of Much Wenlock is about a ten minute drive, and has a host of interesting shops and tearooms, you absolutely must try the butchers, their pies and sausages are out of this world. All the local attractions, Ironbridge, Blists hill Victorian village museum, Coalbrookdale, Long Mynd, (the list is endless.) Plus numerous National trust properties are all within a twenty mile radius, even Powis Castle is only about an hours drive. This was our first visit to Shropshire, it certainly won’t be our last. If you are looking for peace and tranquillity and a genuine warm welcome then this is the site for you. Jim & Nancy (Holly & Millie)

Peace and Tranquility

We stayed at Firs Cottage from Friday 23 to Sunday 25th June and had a warm welcome from the new owners, Alison and Brian. It has easy access, is well sheltered by hedges and the grass is mown short and all the clippings collected, especially important if you have dogs who seem to collect grass on their fur/feet and carry it into the van. There is an information hut with a selection of leaflets and walks, which was very useful. We will definitely be returning, where we hope to spend more time exploring this fascinating area. A golden gem

We staid here for two glorious weeks in may, in 20+ years of caravaning we have never been made feel more welcome. Brian and Alison were more than happy to share there knowledge of the area, and they were happy to help try and solve any difficulties or point you in the right direction. Access to the site was easy and well signed with accurate directions in the book, getting onto the site was nice and easy even with our large twin wheel caravan and tow car which is a large pick up. Each pitch was hard standing for car and van with a lawned area for you awning, the pitches were nicely spread out. Each pitch had its own mains water supply and grey waste disposal. The chemical waste was neatly hidden behind a hedge and well maintained. There was a hut on site with local information about places to go as well as info on local walks.. The site is ideally situated for exploring the area, with it just being out side Much Wenlock, it's not far from Iron Bridge, which is well worth a visit with some fab museums. The surrounding area boasts lots of nation trust and English heritage sites to visit. The site was immaculate with a lovely view over the disused railway bridge and Brian and Alison’s garden which is spectacular. We spent some lazy afternoons enjoying the quiet only disturbed by the bird song. It's a site that we will be visiting again and have no reservations about recommending.

We loved it so much we bought it!

We stayed at Firs Cottage in October 2016 when it was for sale. We loved the site and surrounding area so much that we bought it and moved in in April. I am cheekily posting this review as some of our guests say they have had problems leaving their reviews so thought I would see if this went on. Some of the old reviews mention that it was tight getting in and out of the site. We have now entirely removed the first set of gates and posts so there is no longer a problem getting large caravans on and off. We hope to see you soon.

Lazy days in Shropshire

Some care needed to enter through gate - depending on the size of your unit. The lazy above refers to the fact that you have your own water tap so just attach your hose and away you go - the same would go for waste if you have a hose because the grey waste can go into the surrounding hedgerows. Beautifully sheltered by trees and well laid out site with hardstandings and a central lawn area. Lane to the rear of the site is a superb dog walk - the view from the top of the hill is worth the walk, views across the old quarry & Shropshire hills. Mr & Mrs Ball were very helpful and welcoming but not at all intrusive. We ate at the Talbot Inn which was very good value for money - typical pub grub and not gourmet dining. The butchers is to die for and the bakery great too. Lovely to be somewhere with a good selection of shops nearby with everything you need for your holiday and of course the attractions surrounding Much Wenlock are brilliant too and all worth visiting. Our test of the CL, would we return the answer would be yes.

Perfect Site!

This must have been our third if not forth visit to this site. Very, very peaceful except for the morning chorus from all the bird life around the site. Always great to see the hosts who go out of their way to return leads that someone might have left on leaving the site!! Thank you so much.

Excellent Site

Firs Cottage is an excellent site. Easy to find, access is good onto what is a beautiful and very well managed site. The owners are particularly helpful and the market town of Much Wenlock, which is steeped in history, is about 10 minutes drive away. The George and Dragon pub is recommended. Impressive that each pitch, all hardstanding, offers its own fresh water tap and nearby grey waste. 10/10 score from 2 very satisfied caravanners.

Lovely Site

Just returned from a lovely weeks break at this CL. Owners are very hospitable and the site is maticulously maintained. As previous post said the builders were in next door but this did not distract from our enjoyment in any way. The site is lovely and quiet with a water tap and waste disposal to your pitch. What more could you ask for. Our dog was poorly while away. We took her to Severn Edge vets in Much  Wenlock who were fantastic and highly recommended if needed.
