PICTURE PERFECT!

This site is in an excellent position, half way between Perth and Dundee in an area of stunning countryside everywhere you turn. Mr Stoakes is welcoming and informative without being intrusive. The site is beautifully maintained with neat hard standings, your own water tap and EHU. Chickens merrily forage around in their own enclosure and fresh eggs are for sale. Local information and leaflets are on hand to browse through. There is a small village just up the road with a little supermarket and a fish & chip shop. It's so relaxing here you don't want to leave. We returned for a second night, even though our itinerary didn't really allow for this! We would have no hesitation in recommending this site; it's the best CL we have stayed on!

Lovely setting...

so convenient, midway between Perth and Dundee, cracking winery down the road and Perth Caravans nearby too. Far enough from the quite busy road that the noise didn't worry us. as dusk fell out came the rabbits to play and the chickens often escaped to stroll round the site too. Very friendly welcome from David. Shame it is so far away from us or we would definitely be regular visitors.

One of our Favourites

We reviewed Fernlea last year but feel that it is well worth another. Since our last review, David has put in new hard-standings and recently created "serviced pitches" with their own water supply which is great for showering as it saves the need to carry water. The chemical rinse supply has also been moved next to the tank, so no more crossing over the field to rinse out. This is a really great little CL with the bus going past the road end every hour & as said in many reviews David & Joan are great hosts.  Drop in before the end of June & you'll see Flora's gorgeous little pups - all 6 of them !

A good stop over

We stayed on this pleasant site for two nights. This is a new site perhaps yet to be fully settled into its surroundings. The ducks and chickens are a delight but we would have liked to have known about the very fast road alongside (very busy on a Sunday morning with Scotland's biggest car boot sale down the road) and the leviathan grain drying facility next door, busy through the night in the middle of harvest season. These did not interfere greatly with the enjoyment of our stay - however we felt we couldn't use the chemical disposal point with no rinsing tap alongside - hopefully this will be simple to rectify. We enjoyed the Tay side footpath that David pointed out to us, and we left after a delicious scrambled egg breakfast.

Quacking Little Site

Don`t want this secret to get out but that would be unfair on David and Joan. :) Eggcellent little site just what we needed to chill out. David greeted us on arrival and informed us of all the ins and outs of the site. The main entertainment of the visit was provided by all the hens and ducks, who are real characters. They also provided us with lovely eggs for breakfast. David is a keen gardener and he gifted us one of the best cucumbers I have ever tasted. We will definitely return to this little gem. Many thanks David and Joan we had a Quacking time.

CL well worth visiting.

A fine, quiet CL run by a very friendly and knowledgable couple, David & Joan. Having been CL users in the past they know just what's required. The other reviews have said about everything that can be stated about the site. The ducks and chickens kept us well entertained, chasing around their pens. For those that like a walk there's a good footpath along the banks of the River Tay and around Errol. For those interested in antiques there are a couple of emporium close by, which also have good cafes attached. A great place to stop for a night or two for those heading up the Angus coast, and for longer for those who want to spend time at Perth & Dundee. Although the site is close to the A90 there is little disturbance from traffic noise. This is a site we will use again when we are in the area.

Pleasant surprise!

Stumbled across this CL on our way back North. All previous reviews are spot on with the owners getting well deserved praise for the welcome they offer. The livestock provide amusing viewing and the added bonus of 'really' fresh eggs. The site is well located for easy access to Perth and Dundee and as a motorhomer this is ideal. The hardstandings were also a bonus due to the soggy weather and in some sites it would have meant a difficult exit but here was no problem. Will definately use again.

New CL for us

We arrived at Fernlea and the welcome from David & Joan was lovely even helped us on our pitch. We stayed from 17 Nov to 20 Nov 12. The surroundings are wonderful. Watching the ducks and chickens gamble about preparing our eggs was fab. The counstryside around the CL is good with easy acess to either Perth or Dundee. Although weather was typically scottish we had a great time and will definately visit again.

Highly recommended

We had been planning to visit for some time and were certainly not disappointed. The CL is surrounded by beautiful countryside with plenty walking and cycling from the site. The provision of hard standings makes it suitable for all year round use, especially for motorhomes. It is only a short walk into Errol where you can eat out or stock up at the shops without having to go further afield. David and Joan made us most welcome and I thoroughly enjoyed the freshly squeezed eggs from their own hens. Will we be back - definitely!
