Blissful peace and quiet

Had a wonderful stay on this lovely little CL in Lancashire, a part of the world we don’t know at all (we’ve crossed over from Yorkshire, shhhh, don’t tell....!!) Great view of Pendle Hill (no witches spotted yet.... 🧹), a warm friendly welcome from Ann, red deer spotted on the drive, toilet and shower if you so wish, water tap and EHU on every pitch and blissful peace and quiet. Can’t recommend highly enough - we are sure to be back. — at Drake House Farm CL

PEACE AND TRANQUILITY!

STAYED FOUR NIGHTS ON THIS SITE FROM 15/07/20. ANN WAS VERY WELCOMING AND FRIENDLY. THE APPROACH WAS A LITTLE HAIR-RAISING AS ROADS ARE VERY NARROW BUT WE MANAGED. UNFORTUNATELY THE WEATHER WAS A BIT IFFY BUT COULD'VE BEEN WORSE, GOOD VIEWS OF THE HILLS WHEN THE LOW CLOUD DISAPPEARED. VERY PEACEFUL AND QUIET, SITE WAS AT FULL CAPACITY ON OUR LAST NIGHT. OUR DOG WAS VERY TAKEN WITH THE 3 CHICKENS THAT WANDERED ABOUT. WE HAD EVERYTHING WE NEEDED ON THE PITCH WHICH WAS QUITE SPACIOUS TOO AS WE HAD MOTORHOME, AWNING AND TOW CAR TO FIT ON. WHETHER YOU ARE ON A ONE NIGHT STOP OFF OR LOOKING FOR A LONGER STAY WE WOULD RECOMMEND THIS LITTLE SITE!

After lock down, great to get away!

Drake House review Stayed for two weeks (July 2020) Great value for money for a fully serviced hard standing pitch. Really good chemical toilet disposal, to club site standards. Amazing views of Pendle Hill as long as its not overcast then it's hidden in the clouds 😕. Ann the owner was very welcoming and friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. There is an on site shower and toilet very basic but nice and clean. Recycling and Free WiFi. Great walks directly from the site and loads to do in the area. The approach seems a bit narrow and dodgy in places but we managed with our great big Buccaneer no problem. I would definitely go back, great site.

Perfect Pitch!

Thank you Ann, for making us feel so welcome. We were greeted warmly on arrival and it seems that nothing is too much trouble. The pitches are all spacious and hard standing. The views are amazing and there was a very peaceful feel to the whole site. It's great to have the fresh water tap on each pitch and a very well set up chemical loo and grey water disposal area. The rubbish bin area was well organised. The personal touches of hand washes, lotions and potions in the shower room and information table/notice boards is very thoughtful. We bought half a dozen eggs to scramble on Sunday morning, which were so fresh we had them virtually minutes after they were laid... Delicious!!! We would definitely recommend this site and hope to visit again. Christine and Mike

Perfect!

Completely agree with the previous review, this is a lovely site that we couldn't fault. Even the weather was perfect! The owners are very friendly and helpful, pitches spacious and views were stunning. Public footpaths in every direction. We were a little concerned about the narrow bridge but it is possible to see if anything is coming (particularly when travelling towards Clitheroe) and other road users were courteous and seemed used to seeing caravans through the village. Stayed for 3 nights and would definitely recommend.

Wonderful site

Easy to follow directions, narrow bridge to navigate but no problem and local drivers curteous. Ann very friendly, helpful eager to please. Facilities clean and well cited as was the chemical disposal area. Pitches hard standing large, able to fit large unit, car and awning. Lovely views from every pitch and no restrictions on how to site your caravan. Chickens free range visit but not any bother and their eggs delicious. We stayed for 4 days definitely could stay longer, lots to get out and about to see.

Wonderful site and sight!!

Had a lovely peaceful stay here. Wonderful views, especially the sunset and the view of the Pendle hills changing colour with the sunset. Plenty of opportunities for walking and enjoying the countryside - River walks, walking in the woods it is all possible. Clitheroe very close for shopping. Dined in Waddington. Site well cared for, toilet and shower always clean. All in all a perfect place. Thank you.

Down on the Farm at Lambing Time

We stayed at Drake House Farm from 5th April to 7th April 2019 and we had an amazing stay. Ann and Edward, our hosts, were warm and welcoming and should you have a request, they were only too happy to help. Our request was, well a little, random - I had never helped with the birth of a lamb. Luckily, Mavis, a chocolate coloured ewe was happy to oblige and on Saturday evening her first, a little boy lamb, was born. AMAZING! Especially as Edward made sure Mavis was in the right place for us to have a full view. When lamb number two, a girl, was on the way, Ann had gone in to make Edward's tea so it was left to me, Rachael, to help him. Within a few moments, lamb number two was born. Ann and Edward have very kindly named the lambs, Andrew and Rachael, after us. As for the site, the shower and toilet area is clean and has plenty of hot water. There is a tap for drinking water to each pitch which is really useful. Very peaceful site with good access to local footpaths and villages. I can recommend a walk down the wooded valley to West Bradford, following the stream, but you may need your wellies. There are plenty of cycle routes also and for either walkers or cyclists Stocks Reservoir is worth a visit. We will definitely go back to visit, not just to see how lambs Andrew and Rachael are, but to have another fantastic weekend. Thank you Ann and Edward for our amazing weekend. Love Andrew and Rachael xx

Excellent

We stayed here for 2 nights. Lovely location, great views and very friendly reception on arrival. We were also blessed with a beautiful sunny February weekend. The toilet/shower facilities are good, but the WiFi signal was not strong enough for it to work at all which was just slightly disappointing. It is within walking distance of Waddington, where there are some lovely pubs, and there are lots of walks around the fells/Ribble Valley without having to drive anywhere. Will return and would highly recommend

Scenic, peaceful site with great views

We have visited this site now for 6 years and only just got round to leaving a review. It's the best CL by a mile that we have stayed at taking all into account. The views are just lovely of pendle hill and the sunsets. Anne is really friendly and always makes time for a chat and is on hand if you need anything. The sheep are so relaxing to watch too! There are great moorland walks on your doorstep and a few great pubs in Waddington, a 5 min drive away. It's such a pretty village. Clitheroe is only 15 mins away which is a nice little town for shopping, eating and browsing too. Try the sausage shop! Once you visit Drake House you will be back - all pitches have great views and all fully serviced with free wifi. The info room is really useful too. The toilet and showers are clean, but are fairly basic as you would expect from a rural CL. We will be back again as soon as we can to our favourite CL!
