Good base for Dedham Vale

Well maintained family run CL site, with very helpful email instructions for arrival at site and gate access. Plenty of ideas for food / trips out / contact details found on the information wall as you access the onsite shower block. Ties and Kate were also happy to help if required. Good base for Dedham Vale - enjoyed walking from Flatford Mill to Dedham and back. Slight traffic noise from the main road was the only issue

Peaceful and Relaxing Stay

Very well kept site. Helpful and approachable owners. If you love walking and countryside this is perfect. Surrounded by miles of walks and not far from Dedham or Flatford Mill. Very well recommended and look forward to returning....as are the dogs.

Relaxing weekend

The owners were away the weekend but this was no problem as they had given us the code for the padlock and that we could choose where we went. The bank details to pay were in the toilets but I had emailed to ask for them and response within 30 minutes. Although not much to do within walking distance, we did manage to do a 3 mile walk the first day. This site is a great one to be at as a base to explore other places we went to Dedham vale and Braintree outlet centre, Although we did not use the showers the toilets and shower look clean. We will definitely be coming back.

Pleasant Stay

We had a pleasant stay here for 6 nights. A secure site with gated access. The owners were self isolating so only saw them briefly but everything we needed was readily available. We did not use the showers, preferring our own on board facilities due to Covid but they looked very clean. Quiet surroundings with horses in adjacent fields and a good base for visiting Beth Chatto gardens, the coast at Frinton on Sea and Green Island Gardens at nearby Ardleigh - well worth a visit.

Great CL site

The site itself is very well presented - clean, tidy and very well organised. Multiple bins for recycling and the facilities (showers etc) looked excellent although we used our own. The gate for access is OK and you get notified of the combination number. When leaving/returning by foot you have to crouch and get through the gate - or use the combination padlock and chain. We managed it, but less mobile people may find it all a bit of a faff! We found the local area pleasant - walking the dog on footpaths etc, but it there was nothing particularly scenic or spectacular. Just peaceful arable farmland. I think that you'd need to drive out a little way more into the Dedham Vale to enjoy the richer scenery. Great dessert/cake shop next door - amazing produce that we really enjoyed! But nothing else close by to be honest. Even if you only want milk expect to use your car! Again I would emphasis that the site itself is great - but the area doesn't offer much on your doorstep. But if you're happy travelling - or looking to cycle then I think it could be great.

First ever stay on a CL

In 33 years of caravanning in the UK and Europe, Boxted was our first ever stay on a CL. We couldn't have stayed at a better one to get our first taste of this style of caravanning. Peaceful, no queueing for the amenities, and no touring around a site to get a suitable plot. The small amenity block was very clean, not sure how good the showers were, as we used our own. Very helpful owners who kept the site and their garden beautifully. Good location for an interesting area. Site easy to access from all main roads and although the drive entrance is quite tight I had no difficulty with our new longer, caravan. Their CL sign could have been better placed as you suddenly see it when going along the road. Plenty of Covid-19 sanitiser, etc. for people after handling the entrance gate, lock, etc. Will stay again when in the area, Thanks for a lovely introduction to CL caravanning.

A well loved CL

We had a week here, it is lovely site that is well looked after. Lots to see and do in the area. Lovely walks from the site, cake shop down the road, garden centre up the road and pick your own opposite the site. Very peaceful, level well kept site. Kate was very informative about the area. The walk from Flatford to Dedham is beautiful, a level 4 mile walk.

Excellent site in a great location for walking and cycling :)

We had a three night stay at this site and were very impressed before we had even arrived! Upon booking, we received a confirmation email from the site owners explaining the best route to get to the site, how everything worked on the site and information regarding what had been put in place with regards to the Covid-19 situation. Also, some suggestions about places of interest in the local area. As suggested by the owners, we approached the site so that we turned right into it, which we did not find a problem in our motorhome. We had a few days break to primarily enjoy some walking and cycling and this location was perfect for us. Being on the edge of the Dedham Valley there were plenty of quiet country lanes to cycle along, and lots of public footpaths. We also cycled from the site to Flatford Mill where John Constable painted The Haywain. Really lovely site, thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will hopefully be able to visit again very soon. Many thanks :)

Quiet level site close to Colchester

Really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely return. Our first visit to the area and lots more to see. The access from the main road is tricky, but after the initial difficulty as we approached turning in left at a busy time, we mastered it in our motorhome, but I imagine it could be quite a problem for a towed caravan. Other than that it was a very nice quiet and level site and suited us very well..
