Hi everyone. A tweet from Kirsty at Morrisons confirms that they are on board with Safefill. Filling is now allowed at all their sites. Show the cylinder to the cashier and away you go. This is great news for those who use gas and want to save money.

Congratulations to Safefill for your dogged determination to bring this product to market against overwhelming odds! The first crack has appeared in the dam! Thanks to all those who wrote to Morrison’s to ask why they couldn’t fill and thanks to Morrison’s for approaching this with an open and enquiring mind to cut through the rumours lies and propaganda surrounding this exceptional product. It is a better world today for the LPG user.

Pleased for you Chris. Amazing. 24hrs carravanning for more or less the price of a pint! I will be off to Wales soon. I will take my empty 10.3kg and my nearly full 5kg. Not alot of weight there. Will fill at Bradburys garage, Barmouth. Very handy!

As promised, I now post the email that I have received this morning from CLIVE Turner at  Morrisons. I hope this puts to bed any further doubts that some of you MAY have.

Good afternoon Mr Gaskin

Thanks for getting in touch.

We have now received the following statement from our Petrol Team regarding Safefill containers and attached documentation.

"After receiving feedback from our customers and stores, we are now offering the service from Safefill for our customers to fill refillable cylinders only with LPG.

Customers MUST present their Safefill cylinder(s) at the kiosk before attempting to fill.

Primary it is the responsibility of the customer for identifying damage to the filling valve or cylinder but Petrol Filling Station staff will refuse sale if any damage is evident.

Customers are provided with instructions for filling and use of Safefill gas cylinders on purchase of the equipment. Cylinders themselves are printed with the relevant information.

Only Safefill cylinders may be re filled. Under NO circumstances are conventional steel cylinders to be re filled."

I hope you find this useful and please let me know if there's anything else you need.

Kind regards,

It is interesting to note that ONLY Safefill are to be filled, No doubt because Safefill have done the work needed to assure Morrisons of their inherent safety. Happy filling everyone

My Reply.

Hi Clive,

Many thanks for your communication. I have now copied & pasted to the Caravan and Motorhome Club forum. I can assure you there are many happy campers and caravanners today. Some lingering doubts remained as this is ground breaking in the history of LPG so it’s taken some time to sink in as it were! Morrisons have changed the landscape for so many so let me thank your company on behalf of the thousands of Safefill users up and down the land. We will definitely benef from this decision and I’m sure Morrisons will too.

thank again

etc etc.

What you are witnessing is caravan history in the making! 20 years from now or perhaps a lot sooner , refillables will be normal and standard and no one will turn a hair when filling a cylinder. Covert filling of dangerous steel cylinders will hopefully have come to an end. For me, Safefill have given so much to us through their fight with the more powerful. I thank them again for their foresight and bulletproof determination to bring us, the caravanning and Motorhomeing Public something really worth having. My job is done on this thread!

Merve - thanks for this.

I don't use enough gas to make the change at present but if things change I know what I'll be buying laughing

Merve - although I don't see us taking up this option given the limited amount of time/years we're likely to be using the van in future I've still found it an interesting and informative thread and if we were starting out vanning today we'd certainly be taking advantage of this.  So well done on all your hard work, particularly in the face of some rather ill judged scepticism! smile

Just some practical experience.   I went to my local Morrison’s yesterday and asked if it was ok to fill a Safefill bottle.  The Lady’s in the kiosk had obviously been briefed about Safefill.  It was equally obvious that they have never seen one in the flesh.   So it is obviously to me official Morrison’s policy and long may that continue.

Merve,

Have contacted both and will let you know the reply.

Your enthusiasm is very much appreciated.

Thank you.

Thanks mate, much appreciated. Yes, please post your reply to the thread- either this one or the ‘appeal’ thread which would probably be better but not essential. it helps keep everyone informed of what each of us is doing and how the targets are reacting. Positive stuff so far from The KAY group ( Euro Garages) so keep everything crossed!
