Hi everyone,

We wanted you to be the first to know about a new member offer with My Esso Card. The My Esso Card is a fuel card that provides savings at 1,300 Esso fuel stations to help drive down the cost of touring. Members are guaranteed to save on fuel at every Esso station across the UK with the only consumer facing fuel card.

We are the only organisation within the touring industry able to provide this offer to members.

What is the saving?

On average members will typically save 8p per litre on premium diesel or unleaded fuel and 5p per litre on standard diesel or unleaded fuel. That’s a typical saving of £5.60 per tank on premium fuel or £3.50 on standard fuel (based on 70 litre tank of fuel).

The saving varies based on the My Esso Card special rate and the Esso pump price rate. In the unlikely event that the pump price is lower than the My Esso Card special rate members are guaranteed to save 1p per litre on the pump price. You can use the My Esso Card to fill up all your vehicles, not just the one you tour with.

There are no fees to sign up and no transaction or processing fees. You can also earn your Tesco Clubcard points when filling up.

We are also running a competition for members for a chance to win free fuel.

To launch this great new offer, My Esso Card are giving Caravan and Motorhome Club members an exclusive chance to win free fuel. 10 lucky winners will win 175 litres of fuel and another 10 lucky winners 75 litres of fuel!  Members need to register for a card and fill by 31 December 2018 to be entered into the random prize draw.  Winners will automatically have the fuel credit added to their My Esso Card account.

To find out more about this member offer visit My Esso Card Member Offer on the Club website

I discover this morning that the website:

www.myessocard.com    is no longer available..

It has been replaced by :

www.pump-king.co.uk  which is exactly the same site except the map no longer works.

Good of them to let us know, it didn't initially auto-transfer for me using chrome, but did when I searched using Firefox.

I thought I would pass it on as no one else has bothered...undecided

I get the same this morning but can log on OK via the pump king website. Pump King is the company that runs the Myessocard scheme.

Just sent another message to the email address as well as eta new pump king one.

A little bit of open source investigation into PK Fuel Ltd does throw up some interesting details.

Director is a certain Paul Richard Coulson (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Coulson) and PK Fuel is owned by Pump King Holdings based in Luxembourg

It seems the only UK connection is a UK Limited company and a Uk address which is just a rent an office building

I would like to know what due diligence the CMHC did before they decided to promote this offer.

Remember this offer isn't promoted by Esso but rather PK Fuels Ltd who will have a contract with Esso.

Luckily before the website changed I updated my debit card details to another account that has no money in it or overdraft so they won't be able to take any more funds. Unless that is they use my old details which if they do is a breach of the new GDPR rules on personal data.

From what I can read into it, it is a scheme that has been overwhelmed by interest and it will all settle given time. Digging into Pump-Kings background for internet snippets, and attempting to cause alarm by projecting thoughts of scamming might be deemed irresponsible.

The savvy amongst us will wait and see how it all pans out before rushing in to save a few penny's, then the even more savvy will not even bother.smile

Shires99. I think you'll find the person you mentioned is also involved in a much a bigger financial operation so this is not the problem but it sounds like one of a more basic organisational level due to high volumes of take up?

Metheven. I'm all for a bit of internet digging regarding anything that might be of concern but I'm sure the club can respond too.

I'm not causing alarm, Just informing people who they are signing up with as I'm sure the CMCH will have done the same wouldn't they?

It's interesting that the myessocard website is no longer available. Pure speculation but did they have authority to use esso's name? They may have an arrangement in respect of fuel purchases but can they use name as their web address?

How many people signed up to this believing they were engaging with Esso? How many still would have done so knowing it was a company called Pump King? A new company with no track record?

Oh and if anyone has read the T&C's they signed up to, if you have a dispute you have to raise it in writing within 15 days of the event. So if you only look at your bank statements once a month you may have an issue

Like you I hope it all settles down and hope it's only teething problems but when it's peoples money that they are dealing with people will be wary especially as there is very little protection from your bank for erroneous transactions.

I agree. The silence form CMCH is deafening.

Also agree that it is probably just an administrative c**k up than anything un toward. But it's the members that will be out of pocket until refunds are processed. As soon as it became clear that a payment batch (or batches) had been duplicated, the should have reversed them straight away rather than wait for individual claims to be received. Shouldn't be hard to do.

I just like companies to be open and clear who they are

Me also and I think any accusation of Shires being alarmist is uncalled for

Everyone I assume if they read the Terms and conditions before signing up. It's at the bottom of the page.

So that will be 5% given its being promoted by CC and reference to PK is at the bottom? I think those reading the advertising and T&Cs are suppose to fix on 'My ESSO Card'

Curiouser and Curiouser ......  following the double charge debacle I switched the payment card details to an account that has a much smaller risk in the event of other 'administrative errors'.

Today I received a new card - and yet folks are still waiting since last year......

It arrived with the standard new customer letter - which seems a little odd. I have asked the helpful support desk if the events are linked. Of course the Esso card number in my profile is still the old one - and no doubt the PIN will have changed.

I'll reserve judgement but right now this lot seem to be a right bunch of amateurs not even bothering to arrange redirection on their old web address - perhaps Esso issued a cease and desist smile.
