Hi everyone,

We wanted you to be the first to know about a new member offer with My Esso Card. The My Esso Card is a fuel card that provides savings at 1,300 Esso fuel stations to help drive down the cost of touring. Members are guaranteed to save on fuel at every Esso station across the UK with the only consumer facing fuel card.

We are the only organisation within the touring industry able to provide this offer to members.

What is the saving?

On average members will typically save 8p per litre on premium diesel or unleaded fuel and 5p per litre on standard diesel or unleaded fuel. That’s a typical saving of £5.60 per tank on premium fuel or £3.50 on standard fuel (based on 70 litre tank of fuel).

The saving varies based on the My Esso Card special rate and the Esso pump price rate. In the unlikely event that the pump price is lower than the My Esso Card special rate members are guaranteed to save 1p per litre on the pump price. You can use the My Esso Card to fill up all your vehicles, not just the one you tour with.

There are no fees to sign up and no transaction or processing fees. You can also earn your Tesco Clubcard points when filling up.

We are also running a competition for members for a chance to win free fuel.

To launch this great new offer, My Esso Card are giving Caravan and Motorhome Club members an exclusive chance to win free fuel. 10 lucky winners will win 175 litres of fuel and another 10 lucky winners 75 litres of fuel!  Members need to register for a card and fill by 31 December 2018 to be entered into the random prize draw.  Winners will automatically have the fuel credit added to their My Esso Card account.

To find out more about this member offer visit My Esso Card Member Offer on the Club website

I am only going to save if it brings it below the price of the supermarkets on a regular basis. Saving on the pump price of the Esso station, is no saving, as I don't normally fill up there.

So as I put earlier, am I able to monitor the Esso card price without signing up. The card might be no cost, no minimum use but there is little point in parting with personal information if I am not going to use it.

Have decided this card/company is not for me having done a bit of research.

Esso is a highly reputable company, the Club has agreement between WEX (Esso) and PK Fuel Ltd (re-seller) The reason why this offer has taken over two years is that we need to know that members data, the Clubs reputation will not be damaged.

So can we get access to these rates and monitor them for a period before signing up. Or do we have to sign up first.

Posted on 23/11/2018 10:11

No, I'm afraid not. I would however like to invite feedback to those who opt in to join, keep us posted on this forum on savings and comparisons. Please remember this is all 4 main fuel types.

That way you can see savings and decide to join or otherwise.

The special rate for each fuel type will be sent to your mobile by text each Friday.

This week the standard diesel pence per liter was £1.288, standard unleaded was £1.20.5.

New prices are sent each week and will vary.

They are good prices. However, forgive me for being cynical, you are pushing the card at the moment. I would want to see if they continue being as competitive, before signing up.

Trouble is brue, unless you can find the current Esso Card rate, so as to compare it with supermarket prices, it is impossible to do any sums. Other than knowing you would get 1p off the Esso pump price. We have an Esso nearby and 1p would bring it nowhere near the local Tesco. I know the rate will vary week on week. However, giving customers access to the information before they sign up would be a better way to market it, in my opinion.

Agreed Steve. our nearest garage is an Esso one, but as we fill our M/H infrequently and our EV even less at 8 litres a fill the guaranteed 1p won't be worth the effort. If we're away from home we search for the cheapest rates. Although the top rate is 5p it will fluctuate as much as overall fuel prices do. However there may be some who feel it is OK if there are no alternatives.

I have gone through the enrolement process and found a couple of things that disturb me that others might like to consider.

Firstly, there is a verification code sent to one's mobile. This came from "Pump-King".  I think I recognise this name from another fuel offer I decided not to participate in.

The grammar of the pages in the enrolement suggest it is a translation from a foreign language.

Lastly, they want to hold ones bank account debit card number, expiry date and the number from the reverse. Once this information is hacked from their system it is all that the crooks need to remove whatever money is in your bank at the time.

Thank you for pointing this out. We are aware at present that the verification comes from pup King and will be changed in due course. As a custodian of member data and in compliance with GDPR, the Club has made sure that your data is safe. Your data is stored by a very reputable company, Braintree. Braintree is part of PAYPAL. In addition your address, email and mobile number will not be used for any third party reasons.

I hope this helps

On the basis that here Esso is a lot more expensive than supermarket fuels I do wonder what the savings will really be.

Posted on 23/11/2018 10:52

This week the discount I had from Esso on standard fuel, was 2.2 pence per liter cheaper than my local Asda garage.

Prices do vary from week to week, however they will always be competitive.

Thank you for your feedback SteveL, unfortunately you can only see the prices upon signing up. We have already had 100's of members sign up from 2pm yesterday.

The best way to check is to keep an eye on this forum. The card enables members to fill up at the largest network of fuel stations in the UK. It started with the Touring spirit in mind, however the same card can be used for any vehicle in your home.

Keep an eye on this forum and other Club communications, so you can make a more informed choice.

I hope this helps.
