How to thrive on a non 240v site!

Due to difficulties migrating the original thread, which was massively interesting and popular with members, I am starting another one until the original can be found and  migrated to the Forum.  I apologise to the original OP but I think this is far too important not to be available. Personally, I think, because of the massive moves in technology recently, this subject should have a section by itself. I don't suppose the CC would think about that? So, anything about Solar Panels, LED lighting, Inverters, Safefill even. Anything that assists the caravanners to go off grid in fact - and saves money!!

Not with sufficient ventilation. Remember gas lights?

Good one brue. Just had the fridge serviced and the cooker checked- vital for Non EHUers. Took the trouble to service the loo cassette. We have the C250 model and it’s 6 years old. Having finally got the mechanism out, I realised why it had been so difficult. The loo tank was plastered with lime scale! Every bit of mechanism and internal was covered with the stuff! I was quite surprised due to the fact that I had use biopods. Obviously they don’t clear lime scale! With rubber gloves with long gauntlets 🧤I cleared it all out and will remember from now on to use a descaler on it once a year!! New lip seal fitted- no obnoxious drips on my way to the emptying point now!

The snow that fell last week and must have swathed the SP seems to have had no effect on the effectiveness of the it I couldn’t get there to clear the snow off the panel because of blocked roads but was able to go a week later and all was well with full batteries.

Yes, it has to be pretty deep Cyber but with the shorter days, cloudier skies and the sheer cold, I thought it might have an effect and if it did, there was no evidence of it. Now looking forward to our first foray in April to Norfolk Safefill and Panel at the ready!

I checked my battery level yesterday and was somewhat surprised to find it was down at 12.55 and I only had a bit of snow on my panels for a day. The alarm runs off the MH battery so AFAIK there is no residual drain. I know we have had a lot of grey days but I would have thought there would have been sufficient to keep the voltage up to around 12.7 or even slightly above.

mmm- I wonder if it was the sheer cold?? My panel has kept my Elecsol batteries at ‘full’ for four years. The problem being now that ‘full’ is not as full as it was 4 yrs ago. Still showing 13.8v but I know from last year that the batteries are weaker- a lot weaker than they were. Time to change them. Now looking at Lion battery from Roadpro who are just down the road from me relatively speaking. Non EHU demands good battery/s  and panel/s  and I ain’t going back to EHU. I will also add to the SP - another 100w will do nicely.
