I use a cheap laundry capsules from Lidle. Over time it seems to work. The same goes for the toilet.

I think that most of the "dirt" inside waste water containers will probably be found to be tea and coffee staining.  I thought I'd try what I do to clean the inside of my teapot and put a large dose of a bio wash powder with a load of hot water and leave it for several hours.  Empty and rinse and it looks just like new.  I think the point is the "bio"  bit.  It certainly cleans the crusted on gunge inside my tea and coffee pots perfectly and leaves my wastehog spotless.

Every couple of months I fill our wastemaster with water and add some bleach and leave it for a couple of days before emptying it. This works for us
