Hello

we are new to using CLs. To save mehaving to  ring each and every site I look at, is there an average as to what EHU costs at Cls? They usually seem to say electric hook up available but do not say at what cost. Thanks

..........meanwhile, happily enjoying ourselves with heating on 1kw, up on top of Moors, it’s -1c outside. Both in t shirts. Dog panting. What you might call a well insulated little MH........been out of site all day as well, took 5 mins on gas heating to get us warm. 😁

well done....to me that is what caravanning/MHing is all about, roughing it a little bit but keeping warm and dry as possible with minimum expense, trying to compare caravanning/Mhing with staying in a hotel, b&b cottage etc is a no brainer.

IMO the club will have to make some serious commercial decisions in the not to distant future re how they charge for utilities, it is no good aquiring  more sites/pitches if people cannot afford them or look at the price and decide that there are other options for not a lot more money, yes currently occupancy rates look reasonable but i suspect most of the sites are only full during July/Aug/Sept maybe xmas/new year, and many of the people who use the sites during these periods are of a different ilk to the people using sites at other times, e.g. families vs retired people.

re CL's i will bet that any CL that now includes EHU has looked at their business plan very carefully and priced their pitches to include the cost of install and an ongoing profit from the units used, and if not metered they will be watching their electricity bills very carefully, and adjusting pitch fees accordingly.

i think metering would reduce the amount of electricity used on site and would help save our planet etc. personally i dont use club sites often because i think they are over priced and not good value, but, yes i will pay £50 per night maybe on a commercial site if it has the facilities we like.

As brutal as it first sounds MrC what you say is pure logic. Spending vast amounts on 1 item to then scrabble around in a panic for chump change does sound counter intuitive. Then again-there’s no accounting for taste, each to their own, choice is king👍🏻

you clearly dont live in the real world, some people scrimp and save just to spend 1 week on holiday and then have to count the pennies very carefully whilst away, surely you would not deny them the opportunity to get away from it all for just 1 week.undecidedbut i guess i could be just plain wrong, shame surprised

Surely it’s about applying sense and logic, not about denying people things?

Then they shouldn't go on holiday or have calculated that into their holiday budget. To set off without doing that is just plain irresponsible.

And no it is not good fortune at all.

Many, like myself, that started caravanning about 1980 were not well off and had to watch the pennies. Should I not have taken my family walking the lakes etc: Or using CLs to visit York or non-facility sites to holiday by the coast?

And no it is not good fortune at all.

Well I worked for what I have as you no doubt did. I still consider myself fortunate to have no financial constrictions.

sure and the logic for some folk is that if i scrimp and save for 51 weeks i can have 1 week away and the sense is that whilst away i will watch the pennies and spend within in my means.

i seem to recall that you MH in nothing bigger than a Tesco delivery van so surely the simple act of switiching on the lights should warm that up. Good luck to you, very prudent.laughing

Your first paragraph doesn't make sense at all. I cannot answer if you should have gone or not.

Yet that is not my point at all. What I said was one plans a holiday and one works out what it is going to cost including all possible costs then you decide if you can afford it, One does not set off and then worry about if they can afford to have the heating on.

Actually, LEDs don’t generate heat.
