Well hello everyone. We have been members for 7 years now and we our cancelling our membership.  The reason being that people book up several sites at once and just cancel what they dont want at the last minute. They do this because they dont have to pay a deposit. We did get into one once which was because of a last minute cancelation. When we got there people were suprised we got in and we was even told that you have to book in Jan on several sites and just cancel what you dont want. This is not the way to run things. If a deposit was asked people wouldnt do this. We have mentioned this before but nothing has changed.  Im not paying a membership when I cant book anything .

Find the booking system works well for us as we book all our holidays 12 months in advance due to us both working and having kids and dogs.  The only slight negative is that it is hard to accommodate any last minute changes but I think the positives far out way this

 Here you go -

"If you are leaving site earlier than planned, please inform the warden. The Club will retain one night's fee as it is very difficult to resell the pitch at such short notice; the remaining fees will be returned to you. If you inform the warden more than 72 hours prior to an early departure, we will refund all unused nights. 72 hours is calculated from 12 noon."

Not in our case a few years ago, wanted to change site, got a refund, and paid for the nights at the other site.

Deposit is a good idea, they are required at some CLs, and if you booked hotels, holidays they require deposit which we have to pay if we want to book.

Like any club or organisation, if you dont like it....leave. Your single viewpoint may be important to you however the caravan and motorhome club are a large money making business with thousands of members and much as they might pretend to listen to individuals dis-satisfaction , they simply couldnt run the business at all if they did.

Because of circumstances, we had to cancel our bookings in May and June and have come away much later than normal. So far we have had no problems getting in places. Yes there are less that have availability, but still plenty to go at. We have just spent 9 days at Brid booked last minute. Currently at Chapel Lane on route for Malvern, which I have not booked yet, but plenty of availability. Or from here we could book and go for a week at Cirencester, M in M or Brecon. So there are certainly places where you can still book a week last minute.
