A forum is simply a web interface to a database - having run a few systems in my time I can say that it is easy for things to break unless you manage your database properly, and also don't apply system updates without testing first.

I'd suggest they start by taking a good look at their file structures and getting rid of commas in the resulting addresses:-

Every time I see that it gets my back up - or should that be backupWinking

You would think that at least one of the 40 IT staff that the CC are alleged to employ would have spotted that......

Don't think we will ever know the root cause of the problem as they are aware that there are at least half a dozen IT consultants and Forum owners who contribute on here.  So I guess they will continue to make the bland excuses so they don't have to admit they have made basic errors.  Obviously the silence and bland statements are made so they don't look stupid and even more incompetent

Well, Malc, they've had a while to 'evaluate', so should know the cause...

if they dont, they shouldnt have released the forum again.....

once its proven to be (a little more) stable, perhaps they'll choose to enlighten us....

Personally, I can't understand this "demand" from a small number of members for a detailed explanation or "concise statement/update" from the club of the technical workings of and issues with their website.

If the website has issues - there are people in place to fix it.

If it's working, then as a customer I use it. If it isn't, I have alternatives.

If I go into a shop to buy a telly, I don't start asking where the components come from, how/where they were assembled, how it all works - I just want to buy and use a telly.

If my telly goes wrong, an engineer comes & fixes it.

I don't ask the engineer for a "concise statement/update" on what was wrong with my telly and details of what he has done to fix it!!

Cheers
