CC membership and the forum

What proportion of people posting on this forum are fully paid up members of the Caravan Club.?

My opinion is that outsiders ( non members) should only have read-only access to this forum.  Only paid up members of the CC should be able to post.

Undecided Over many years (since 1973) i have been motorhoming. Both with C.C/red Pennant membership and without. Now on my fourth vehicle and a member again. In between times ,as cicumstanses dictated,i have been able to post quite helpfull threads to assist members and non-members alike. Therefore even non-members should feel welcome, with a view to aspirring to become part of the club should they feel their contributions could be valid. They afterall, could be a welcome addition to the financial requirements of the future of the club.

What would have prevented you joining Riba?

The thought of ending up next to some opinionated, curtain twitching CT member

Don't get me wrong, I've met some lovely people on CC sites, I just don't think CT is a good representative of CC membership.

At least I hope it's not.

Ribs, we've met quite a few other CT members now. And do you know what? In real life there's not been a single one of them who you could remotely describe as opinionated or a curtain twitcher. It's obviously the effect sitting at a keyboard have on a small number. Even they'd be welcome to pitch up next to us on site though; it's amazing what effect being face to face has on folk! Happy

Well I'm exactly the same in real life as I am on the forum.......you'll be pleased to hear Laughing

Charming, reasonable, polite, sensible.......

Many forums charge £10 or £12.50 a year to be full posting members.

It could be applied here and allow free access to CC members?

However I don't think the current system would be worth the £10...or the admin be capable of running such a system!

Shame really!!

Write your comments here...Good post  Unfortunately I don't think the current software would be capable of detecting when someone left the CC. or did not join at all.

It does seem strange, that we as members of the CC are paying over £ 40.00 per annum for  membership  which includes the forum and it's administration. BUT there are outsiders who are not CC members able to get full use of the forum  for "Free : Gratis and For Nought".

No doubt when the new forum software is commissioned, that abnomality will be addressed and outsiders who pay nothing will be given Read-only access to our forum.

Cool

No I agree that they will ignore Kennine......just as they ignore all their members who suggest something that might disrupt their cosy existence.....

You most likely are spot on Ian. BUT if those who enjoy being a CC customer do not suggest improvements, how are those in  Grinstead Tower going to know what the ordinary caravanner requires.----- We are not a bit like the contestants on COTY

If anybody doesn't want to be part of CC by rejecting being a member,   Why then would they want to use the CC forum.??   -----   Seems a bit strange, when there are so many other caravanning forums out there. !!!!!   That's my opinion, Others might want to explain that point.  I certainly can't...

Cool

Well in my case it's the friendly banter and the entertainment factor from certain posters.

However if I'm not wanted I will move along............

Well having been a CC member for 30yrs this year, we are actually having a hiatus at the moment through no fault of our own but health reasons factor prominently and we are finding it impossible to get out atm. We could very easily have let our subscription lapse, indeed - if anything happened to my OH I would certainly become an ex-member and while I can see K being enthralled if I was barred from posting here - I think I would still have a valid contribution to make - should I wish to !
