CC membership and the forum

What proportion of people posting on this forum are fully paid up members of the Caravan Club.?

My opinion is that outsiders ( non members) should only have read-only access to this forum.  Only paid up members of the CC should be able to post.

K Cool

I suspect there are a lot more ex members posting than the avatars would indicate, even past staff members are still showing as staff despite no longer working for CC!

I agree with TW, no one (at least with any common sense) is going to become a member just to access this forum, it only operates on a part time basis anyway!

None CC members contribute a great deal, give a sense of reality to touring "life beyond the Club", the issues, if any, don't lie with them, it lies with the way the forum is managed/administered.

I think the forum should be members only, so as not to scare off potential new members.

I think I would have thought twice about joining if I'd read some of the posts on CT first Undecided

If anybody doesn't want to be part of CC by rejecting being a member,   Why then would they want to use the CC forum.??   -----   Seems a bit strange, when there are so many other caravanning forums out there. !!!!!   That's my opinion, Others might want to explain that point.  I certainly can't...

Cool

That's an easy one K, choice. They choose to let their membership lapse but enjoy being part of the forumHappy. Similar to folk who contribute to multiple forums not just the one they choose to be a paying member of, choice againHappy. The upside for the CC is non members can easily be banned for transgressions with no loss to the CC-win/win I think.

What would have prevented you joining Riba?

The thought of ending up next to some opinionated, curtain twitching CT member

Don't get me wrong, I've met some lovely people on CC sites, I just don't think CT is a good representative of CC membership.

At least I hope it's not.

It certainly isn't, Riba. In fact it's a lousy shop window for CC.

Ribs, we've met quite a few other CT members now. And do you know what? In real life there's not been a single one of them who you could remotely describe as opinionated or a curtain twitcher. It's obviously the effect sitting at a keyboard have on a small number. Even they'd be welcome to pitch up next to us on site though; it's amazing what effect being face to face has on folk! Happy

Many forums charge £10 or £12.50 a year to be full posting members.

It could be applied here and allow free access to CC members?

However I don't think the current system would be worth the £10...or the admin be capable of running such a system!

Shame really!!
