Leaving late on a Sunday

Now that the caravan club has had a revamp, do they still require people to leave their sites at 12pm on a Sunday ?

As someone who works during the week I want to be able to use a caravan site all Weekend, and leave at say 4pm on a sunday.

I appreciate the sites need to make room for new people arriving, and I can see this being especially important on a Friday and Saturday, but its a real inconvenience for us weekenders ( so much so I'm no longer a member).

I'm sure this suits retired people, but I assume the revamp is to get some new blood in, and that will mean weekend only stayers. Has anything change d in this area.

(If not what do weekend caravans do, just use private sites?)

I used to do the same Compass. I would usually not book the Sunday until the day. Usually if I was intending to go late on Sunday I would pay for pitch and one adult and leave just after 8pm. Sometimes I would pay for two adults and 2 kids and go sharpish on Monday morning,

But it can be £30 for an extra nights stay, and then you only use a few hours of it ! Clearly everyone is richer than me.

(sorry I'm slow on answering I think becasue I've only done a few posts they need to be approved by a moderator which is taking a day or so)

How late can you leave?

Possibly only as late as 12 noon if we don't pay for the extra night. The whole point of paying is to put the decision into our hands.

Sorry Steve, what I meant was how late could you leave in the evening ( having paid for the night)

Often I have seen signs up by reception. Sometimes saying departures by 2pm and sometimes 4 pm. Best is to ask in the office. As I said earlier when I did weekends 4pm was of little interest to me. Evening meal was around 6pm with the kids and I preferred to leave closer to 9pm in summer or the Monday morning if within an hours drive.

In answer to the OP who said 'As someone who works during the week I want to be able to use a caravan site all Weekend, and leave at say 4pm on a sunday. I'm sure this suits retired people, but I assume the revamp is to get some new blood in, and that will mean weekend only stayers. Firstly most retired folk on here also caravanned whilst working. As a retired person I don't go away for less than around 15 nights and usually far more. When I leave site to head home from my last stop I like to be home before 12. Preferably around 11am. Only asked twice to have a late departure in the last 12 years. One was when the next site was an hours drive nad the national trust site was 1pm arrival and the other when an AS had a 3pm arrival in the book. In the first case I contacted site and was told 12 O'clock would be OK. In the second I contacted and was told come any time after 11am and so never needed to stay later

You may be able to as rule 15 allows but this is subject to site specific circumstances on the day of departure. You can't assume the right!

Posted on 01/03/2017 17:35

As stated previously according to the rule there may be circumstances when a slightly later departure is possible but that decision and granting of is made by the staff, not by us. The only way to guarantee a later departure, particularly when the site is very busy, and leave whenever you like, is to pay for the night you will not use.  This however can also stop others using that empty pitch you leave behind.

Being a wimp perhaps David, but I would rather grovel I suspect than stick pins into my eyes. Never tried either experience to be truthful.

There is always the option to book an extra night for caravan and one person.   One average that works out at about £12.  Cheap at the price if you just want to leave your vehicle there packed up and ready to go while enjoying the area.

Yes but that would be dishonest if there are more people than one adult in the caravan.
