Leaving late on a Sunday

Now that the caravan club has had a revamp, do they still require people to leave their sites at 12pm on a Sunday ?

As someone who works during the week I want to be able to use a caravan site all Weekend, and leave at say 4pm on a sunday.

I appreciate the sites need to make room for new people arriving, and I can see this being especially important on a Friday and Saturday, but its a real inconvenience for us weekenders ( so much so I'm no longer a member).

I'm sure this suits retired people, but I assume the revamp is to get some new blood in, and that will mean weekend only stayers. Has anything change d in this area.

(If not what do weekend caravans do, just use private sites?)

But it's not. I think you miss the point.

OK Tinwheeler, then what would you have?. The rules of the club states that you must clear the pitch by 12noon. We all know that and that rule is common sense. I presume you would like a free for all situation, surely that would lead to utter chaos. As mentioned, there are ways round it, wardens discretion or pay for the Sunday night, that's not difficult!

People read what they want to read

The rules are clear that wardens can authorise later stays if the number of arrivals allow for it

Hey, go back and read my first post in this thread. You clearly haven't read it all. I don't know why you have jumped to the conclusion you have without any evidence whatsoever. You seem to assume everyone posting wants open house and stay as long as you like whereas most posters have only stated the available options without pushing for any contentious change.

What would would I have? The status quo.

I did stay on one site and wanting to catch a ferry asked if I could stay. I was told the site was full but they checked their sheet for arrivals times and found several not expecting to be there until after four. On that basis they said I could stop until three although in fact two was fine for us.

It is wardens discretion though and not all mighty be that generous.

If it really matters you can of course opt to pay for the extra night. It is what we have done this year. Then we can leave the site when we want to catch our night sailing. There is no risk of a refusal.

How late can you leave?

We do it all the time. Every weekend booking we make includes the Sunday night. I do tell the warden we won't be staying on the Sunday when we book in.

It does have the unfortunate effect of blocking the pitch out on the booking system so it's not available to others who wish to arrive on a Sunday. Not really something that worries me wink

When I go for a week on site I usually like to travel to site on a Sunday, much quieter on the roads etc. If as you require, you keep the pitch all day, what are 'us weekers' supposed to do, sit outside the site until it is convenient for you to go? As mentioned earlier, you can always pay for the Sunday night and then leave when you want, it's your choice.

If you were booked into a site there would be a pitch for you from 12or1300hrs  see site info on your day of arrival on any caravan club site

Doesn't worry me either.

Those people who stay into the afternoon without paying also block the pitch.......so I much prefer that people recognise that they have to pay or what they get, as you do.

When we go away for a week , we also book Sunday to Sunday it's far easy a travel day , I hadn't really thought I  ðŸ˜‡was an inconvenience to all the members who would like to stay later than 12 .00 noon.........Silly me ....Will I change definitely not 😘

I used to do the same Compass. I would usually not book the Sunday until the day. Usually if I was intending to go late on Sunday I would pay for pitch and one adult and leave just after 8pm. Sometimes I would pay for two adults and 2 kids and go sharpish on Monday morning,
