Hi everyone,

Following the very popular Coronavirus Concerns discussion, I have created this discussion to continue conversation around the Coronavirus where you can discuss with each other and share updates and concerns.

However, we do request that conversations and comments about politics are not posted as this inadvertently leads to disagreements and arguments as we have seen in previous discussions where we have needed to moderate posts. Please can you keep your conversation free from politics friendly and in the spirit of the community. A reminder of the Guidelines below:

I have been monitoring our local stats every day. After a very quiet period, no more than one or two, and some days no new cases, last two days have come as a bit of a shock. First six new cases, and then yesterday ten. No more details available to pinpoint exact areas, but it’s still out there. I saw Sheffield Children’s Hospital had a shocking death yesterday as well, a thirteen day old baby (no underlying issues) was taken in, but could not be resuscitated. Terribly sad for all concerned. We aren’t in an area that has had a huge number of cases, but that’s a big jump in just two days. We are still taking all precautions.

Not studied these Apps, but if folk don’t have a mobile, have it switched on or don’t have the App what is the value of it?

No value at all for these people. They will just have to rely on the track and trace system which has been launched.

no value at all, but in S Korea 9 out of 10 people have a mobile phone and you have to have it switched on with the app installed, not if's but's maybe's and that is why they were able to combat the virus in the very early stages. But having worked in S Korea, if some one in authority says jump, you ask how high, no quarter given, probably not the sort of regime we want in the UK, but it has some advantages.

"Routes taken by infected patients are published online regularly, while incoming travellers are required to report their symptoms daily on an app that they have to download on arrival at the airport"

Leaving one’s Bluetooth on has always been considered a hacking risk.....

I never have my Bluetooth off TDA, never had issues either. Hacking/phishing & general cyber fraud can usually be put down to lax security/knowledge from the hackee🤷🏻‍♂️

I would agree Rocky. It's those phishing texts / emails that they send thousands off. If one lands that ties in with opening an account, a car accident etc some folk will be tricked into opening a link and even supplying information, believing it to be genuine.

As far as the Bluetooths use in the tracking app is concerned, I think that if Apple had given the NHS people rights to use it as they wanted, there were security issues.

Me neither, my bluetooth is always on, but set to be only discoverable by my 'paired' devices, such as the car.
