C&CC to Close Their Forum

I noticed a discussion on the above forum saying that the C&CC are going to close their forum from the end of this month. Some members have had an email with this information, although I have not received that email. They don't really give an explanation as to why but they are encouraging members to use other forms of Social Media. Only problem is that those members that don't use other "Social Media" are shut out from communications with fellow members.

They have also confirmed the closure of their Oxford and Isle of Wight sites. The reasons are:- "Oxford faced road infrastructure challenges and external development disruptions, while Adgestone's popularity has declined over the years, needing significant upgrades to return it to the standard that members rightly expect." Shame about Oxford, especially as we no longer have Bladon Chains. Another UK city without a campsite in reach by easy public transport.

Ah, I mixed up veteran with our current status, thought I had read something😁 That’s good news, we do qualify then. Take to the grass pitches mid week and we are laughing👏👏

The power of a decently supported forum has worked well this time👍

Dry season bargains a plenty at CCC with their cheap grass, no EHU offers... and as WTG mentions the THS network is a real attraction from April to September.

Yes, we have had those emails YT. Currently looking on website for something around Skipton for a night, and then Harrogate for a night, but I think the snow forecast will make life difficult this coming weekend, in which case it will just be a day out in Jeep.

We will consider grass pitches in Summer though, and possibly a THS.

For the information of one who believes he has spotted an anomaly, I will explain something. We were not going to renew C&CC this month and cancelled the DD. The next day the free membership arrived. There's nothing odd there at all just a matter of facts and coincidental timing.

My apology for deviating from the topic of the C&CC forum closure.

A question for those that know how to do these things. The C&CC are suggestion members use other social media like Facebook. Having just had a look at their Facebook page I can't see any way to post other than on the threads started by the Club?

People from the ccc forum have been posting on Facebook to express their displeasure. Can you see those posts? Or is there more than one Facebook site?

Isn’t that the same as with the CAMC Facebook page? Maybe that’s why there’s unofficial Facebook groups which at first glance look like they’re associated. Though I haven’t seen any related to C&CC. But I haven’t looked!

The only posts I can see are those posted by the C&CC themselves. You can see member comments on those posts but I can find individual member posts. Usually there is an option to see all posts but not found that yet. It just strikes me that if they want to replace the forum with social media they are going to have to allow more two way communication.

Goldie

The CMC Facebook page is slightly better as you can see some member posts but I think the Club hide a lot of posts so as not to overshadow their own use which is mainly for publicity.

I noticed this too.But I put it down to my lack of knowledge with FB.I can comment on an existing thread/post though.

I'll message them and see if I get a reply

David, couldn't it also be because they are removing any comments that are critical of the Club?
