CAMC Insurance

In the early hours of 11th November, we had our 4 month old, top of the range twin axle caravan stolen by a gang of five very “professional” thieves carrying massive crow bars. They all wore balaclavas, and totally ignored the cctv cameras dotted around the storage site. They smashed through electric barriers, and gemmied off wheel and hitch locks, on both ours, and another similar nearly new caravan, removing the alarm and tracker boxes leaving them on the ground. They then drove off into the night using two vans with no number plates.  The police followed up, reviewed the cctv footage and declared there was nothing further they could do. Luckily we were insured new for old with the Caravan Clubs insurers, and their treatment of us and our claim has been absolutely first class. Their Loss Adjuster was very supportive, and gave us complete confidence. As a result, four weeks and three days from the day of the theft, payment was made in full, and we have our replacement 2020 model arriving in January. I could not recommend the CAMC insurance highly enough, they were absolutely magnificent.

Not the first on here either. Who was it reported on the air rifle damage to his caravan?

We have been away at Sandringham for the last week and no phone signal so was unable to keep up with posts on here.  It was I who reported the similarly excellent service from CAMC Insurance cover back in October.

The van was hit by an air rifle pellet - causing what turned out to be £1500 worth of damage.  An assessor arrived the day after the report was filed and immediately authorised repairs.  He also chased up the repairer / Knaus when there was a delay in getting spares. The repair was completed to my satisfaction and when I submitted a claim for the fuel used in transporting the van to/from the repairer (two x 300 mile trips) I received payment by cheque within 48 hours - and for more than I had claimed!

Throughout the process, everyone I came into contact with was sympathetic and understanding and kept me fully informed throughout the process.

I have to say that the claims experience was second only to one I had to make in respect of £20k's worth of storm damage to a yacht some 25 years ago and I had no hesitation in renewing my CAMC cover this year.

My own experience was pretty much the same, when I made two (separate) claims, maybe twenty or so years ago. No fuss, no haggling. All in all, very satisfactory and stress free.

It's the 'stress-free' bit that's important.  I really felt that the CAMC claims team were 'on my side' and trying to help me.  Contrast that with my experience of a claim on my car a few years ago - with a well known insurer when, because I insisted on the car going to the only VW authorised repairer in our area, rather than their nominated one, I got nothing but hassle and aggravation and every stumbling block put in my way. They were clearly intent on protecting their own financial interests rather than supporting me - as the CAMC team did.

I have found the car insurers that I have dealt with to be a delight at claims time.

In my experience, the problems start if the insurers have handed the claim over to a separate Claims Management Company who invariably have a different agenda.

As the DG says, in the latest mag....that CaMC have been voted best Caravan Cover Provider...so to find a possible completive quote, I did a search for those providers that didn't quite make the grade...unfortunately Google never got me past 'Pro-Tec', 'Specialised Covers' , etc....
