Arrival times

just booked a few weeks at the blackpool south club site .But it now seems that they have altered the arrival time from 12 to 1 o-clock I can go along with that as its a very narrow lane outside so no room to queue with out causeing a traffic jam . My gripe (complaint) is that sites don,t enforce the leave time we have seen people in caravans leaving at 4pm at blackpool and believe it or not 2 leaving southport site at 6.30pm (caravans) you can,t tell if motorhomes are leaving or just nipping out so come on club sites lets have some rules everybody has to stick to in fairness to all members.

Very rarely do we arrive on site early especially if we have to travel a fair distance from home, as long as we arrive before dark we are happy, When we are on site I have observed an early arrival circle round a site looking for the perfect pitch ( is there one). Then  after they have had to pitch somewhere, about half a dozen will leave. Does not always pay to be early.

Did he/she tell you they were looking for the perfect pitch? Maybe they were just selecting the best that was available and were very happy with that.

Have you never driven past a pitch and then changed your mind and circled back to it? I know I have.

its the concept of forcing customers to queue outside (perhaps in an entrance road) waiting for a specific 'opening time' that causes the congestion

And there was me thinking that it was folk that could not tell time

That time we arrived 3 hours  early we had come from Calais, booked a ferry for 9am and reckoned 2 hours from Dover to Welwyn Garden City. We turned up early for the ferry as we always do and were put on an earlier crossing, met no traffic at all   and had forgotten to alter our clocks hence 3 hours early arrival. The site was about 30% occupied should we have been turned away?

Yes, go and park up somewhere, there is always an excuse for arriving early, when in fact there is no excuse.

We don't subscribe to that perfect pitch nonsense. I have known us be only outfit on site at some places we stay, and we move pitch each night just for the hell of it........easy in a small MH!surprisedlaughing

We had bottom level of Bolton Abbey to ourselves one short break, we moved about then as well, but don't tell the Wardens!wink

Yes a dam good excuse , I dreamed that up just so that we could spend a few hours extra on one of the clubs sitesundecided instead of going out and find parking for a 12 meter outfit in a strange town and then sit twiddling my thumbs for 3 hours while a site is half empty instead of asking because its the rules.

I was just waiting for the first one to suggest thatwink

Hang on a minute Dave a few questions -

one moment the site is : about 30% occupied should we have been turned away?

now it's: half empty

so question 1) which is it?

question 2) you signed up to abide by the rules?

question 3) Not forced or anything?

question 4) why do you think the rules don't apply to you?smile

Now, this morning I went to my local Sainsbury's to do some shopping, but they don't open until 10am and I got there at 9.45 , I sat and waited till they opened , or should I have gone and hammered on the door and asked to be let in early???
