Best reads - Club Together Book Club?

I'm just about coming to the end of Deborah Moggach’s book, Heartbreak Hotel. I found it a very enjoyable read and very amusing. But what should I read next? Any recommendations?

I also wondered if anyone would be interested in a Club Together book club? According to a member survey earlier last year, reading is the most recurring leisure activity whilst caravanning. I know I’m a book worm and I’m sure there’s a few of us out there who enjoy a good read. Anyone interested or any suggestions?

Any history lovers might like A Brief History of Mutiny by Richard Woodman. Tells the tale of all sorts of (mainly British) maritime mutinies, starting with the likes of Columbus and Magellan, and onwards through to the 1970’s. Bligh of course gets a mention, but he was a pussy cat compared with some. Good companion reading if you like the Hornblower and Aubrey/Maturin series of novels.

Got my copy for free, swopped for another book at a CS😁

Finished it last night and missing it already.laughing His scene setting is quite marvellous  and some of the exchanges, not only funny, but expertly crafted.

I've recently discovered Kate Rhodes' "Locked Island" series, set in the Scilly Isles. We've never been but the descriptions are very atmospheric and the islands sound appealing. Typical easy reading detective novels, good for holiday reading. smile

And I've finally got round to the second book in Richard Osman's "Thursday Murder Club" series. I try hard not to be impressed by celebrities who turn their hand to writing but I have to admit he's got the knack for accurately describing "old folk" reliving their glory years! Very amusing and, again, good for light holiday reading.

I still have that pleasure to come. At the moment I am reading Black Hearts, the 4th in the Skelf's series by Doug Johnstone.

Isles of Scilly are simply stunning! Just don’t get on that damn boat (Scillonian) if you ever decide to go. Helicopter ride is superb👍😁

Picked up a brand new  never been read before, book from the library yesterday.

Caro Ramsays' In Her Blood. The second in a new series from her featuring DCI Christine Caplan. First one was good. Some might have read her Anderson and Costello series.
