I can't see the original sticky so will start a new thread.  Saw nearly 30,000 knot on Breydon Water yesterday.  Great weekend at Minsmere, Otter, Kingfishers, Bitterns, lots of Marsh Harriers

Went to NWT Clay this afternoon, plenty of raptors about but star was barn owl quartering on fringe of reserve.  Plenty O’Grady geese, ducks and waders around.

Sightings on yesterdays stroll, Mallard with 12 very young ducklings under her in the nest. Black headed gull in summer plumage and trees all around in bud. Is it spring or summer?

Today snow, not much but crazy climate we live in. I bet today there will be caravans heading for the coast

20+ Parrot Crossbills just outside Brandon, love to watch them drinking, have to turn their head to one side. 15+ Twite at Thornham harbour, 2 x redwings on the CL.

Saw our first Daffodils in flower, which seems very early for up here in N.Yorkshire.

None near where we are NTH!  Whereabouts are you?  I love to see the first daffodils, and often this is on our way to Abersoch early in the New Year. Has anyone done the Daffodil walk at Farndale - spectacular, but much later in the Spring - or the walk amongst the wild daffodils at Llanystumdwy??  We call that one the Lloyd George Walk and generally do it once a year when we're staying at Abersoch.

I also love to see the first lambs of the New Year - the new thing about lambs being born at the end of 'the old year' (is this for maximum growth) doesn't count - just isn't the same!

ValDa, they were miniature ones in a planter at Ingleton.

Today we spotted at least 3 Herons as we were walking along by the River Wharfe just outside Ilkley, and then a Kingfisher flew passed upstream. They seem to be quite a lot of them about this year.

Grand photos, OP.

Great photos, Oneputt. Crossbills certainly love water.

Reports of hawfinch showing well at Whalley, so might have a stroll over there in the morning. Will be taking the bus pass in case the weather becomes a bit too "challenging" to walk back home!
