How's your footy team doing?

I'm starting this thread again because it seems to have been a casualty of the change over to the new site. The Terriers scecured another away win last night at Burton. Two wins in a row now after a barren spell. It'll all go pear shaped on Friday when we go to Norwich because the game is to be televised , we haven't won on the telly for ages.

Hull City's win, yesterday was monumental - especially scoring two goals after that diabolical red card was issued. Fingers crossed that they might just avoid relegation.

Hopefully they'll get it rescinded on appeal . It's getting very tight apart from Sunderland who looked doomed.

I hope it is rescinded, totally over the top (the red card, not the tackle).

Unfortunately football is more of a business than a sport these days and bad decisions have severe financial effects for clubs and career effects for players. Mind you, I have every admiration for most ref's in how they make the right decision in instances where it takes a couple of slo-mo replays from different angles for the pundits to agree. Quite why we have touchline officials beats me as they never seem to assist at all. Ref's must be extremely fit and run further than the players as they are always up more or less in line with the play.

Good luck for the next games, Terriers.

Thanks Spriddler. This is our game in hand, Wolves away on Tuesday.

I was reminiscing today about the times we played Brighton. I remembered a mid week game in our centenary year, 2008, when we beat them 7-1 at home. We had Danny Drinkwater, now playing with Leicester, on loan from Man U, and Theo Robinson who got a lot of goals for Lincoln City earlier this season. He would have had a hat trick but missed his third by a whisker.

I hope you are promoted as Champions, it would be thoroughly deserved.

Rog.

Well, not happy about Saturday's result. But given the mess we were in just 3 years ago, a top 10 finish in league 1 makes it a pretty good season overall. Hopefully we can hang on to most of the current squad and with a couple of additions press on for a Championship spot in a couple of years time. Need to stop the bigger fish trying to poach a good young manager too! smile

+1 but given their huge fan base, their budget and their world class manager I'd have been surprised if they hadn't gone straight back up.

Having seen both them and Brighton this season I much preferred the way the latter came to play football at our place. Newcastle came to frustrate and with the assistance of a disgraceful referee got the job done., but it wasn't pretty to watch 😤

Sadly, papgeno, entertaining the fans and having their gate money seems unimportant to clubs' income from T.V. and sponsorship when they have players earning £1million a month.

We've just had a fundraising do to raise money for new goal nets for my village team and we all feel valued and part of the entertainment.

Phew! We're in the playoffs. It would be better for the nerves if we could win more by more than one goal.
