Have been reading an interesting take on the above, and is it needed ?as

1 The over 65s is 17.8% now rising to 23,6 % by 2045

2 If the major clubs and commercial organisations want to fill sites mid week off peak and school holidays its the older generations they need to concentrate on as they /we have the time to do it

3 Over 50s now hold 70% of the UKs household wealth

4 Older people are more likely to take to our lifestyle as it it is not sneered at or micky taken as the younger tend to worry about?

5 People of us older generation are more likely to know some one who already is with our life style and will give them tips as to how to start and give them advise on the advantages compared to other leisure activities

If the Club really want to see where the target market is, they should have the nerve to try a few adult only sites.

As the saying goes it's not often that you are right, but you are wrong again.

Sprite Musketeer (beside the future Mrs C's arm) and a Vauxhall Victor, I think. It was 1966 or later - 'D' reg = 1966.

At that time the registration years ran from Jan to Dec. In 1967 it changed and 'E' was only used from Jan to July. 'F' started in Aug 1967 and from there on the reg years ran from Aug to July until 1999.

Sorry, I'll shut up now.

I don't recognise the books, Corners, but what a wonderful memento of your fil.

thanks, the books are a picture of caravaning in the early 70s (green book) and late 70/80s.

'A combination of 2in coupling and 50mm ball (or vice versa) is dangerous'

'Sprite .... recommend 77lb nose weight for the 400 model'

'the Scott stabiliser is easily fitted'

'for automatics: 'Overheating can occur more easily on some models than on others. Where there is a large area of underbonnet space and a compact engine (such s the V4) airflow may be sufficient to prevent overheating'

'... fitted exterior mirrors, or a retrovisor' What is a retrovisor?

A crossing Dover to Boulogne would cost about £51, quite a lot in 1971

The caravan MH debate was about caravans v tents (still is with one poster herewink) so I'll finish with:

there should be no bias or snobbery between the two classes, and your true camper is no less of a lover of the countryside and a respecter of other people and property than the average caravanner'

How about welcoming everyone?  Seems better than targeting just one section of society.

I'm sure the CCC has an average age similar to this club. It's because joining a club to access campsites is a concept that would not occur to most folk. If I hadn't been able to save on insurance and recovery I wouldn't have joined this one.

You answered ETs post above

I agree about welcoming everyone although I do have some sympathy with the OP.  My instinct tells me that the C&CC has a slightly wider age range appeal - tents are often used by those who are younger (it was the route we took that resulted in us becoming caravanners).  When we visit C&CC sites there are generally younger folk about during weekends and holidays.
