Posted on 11/11/2023 16:37 by TinwheelerIt depends where you pitched. We really liked that site and it was superb for dogs.

Always as far to the right as possible with a tent😁 It did make for a nice sense of camaraderie if there were one or two others up there. We shared a few drinks with a couple of Dutch brothers, sent them on their way to Cornwall with a marked up map of some of the best things to see. They were on classic motorbikes. Another time we did stay with van, I had a ball at the big Bead Fair that was on at the time. Liked the town as well. Yes, as you say superb for dogs. I think there was a Pony Club event on as well one time.
We miss Wenlock Edge as well Nellie, but did find a couple of nice CLs not far away, closer the Church Stretton.

Posted on 11/11/2023 19:29 by KjellNNWe were looking at Edinburgh, it says pretty much full for all pitches January through to March.........we do not believe that can be the case! Something odd going on!!

I read somewhere that there were some major upgrade works due at the Edinburgh site?

Have not seen that.....would be good if it was highlighted on the site page!
Why not mark it as closed rather than full? Giving members correct information does not seem to be a priority for the Club.
Almost 3 months seems a long time to close it, cannot think what they could be doing that would take that long.
Toilet blocks possibly.....but why so long? Otherwise, we have been there several times, I cannot think what would need to be done.

Posted on 11/11/2023 20:22 by KjellNNPlus, of course, all this nonsense with the latest posts in various categories after the "essential maintenance", it does not make life easy, or make one want to come on CT.
I have noticed that there are far fewer posts on here than there used to be, in all categories.

Finding CT quite depressing old posts dragged up from years ago, some of which are from people or refer to pets that are no longer with us, as you say KjellNN fewer posts and i notice that a lot of folk who used to be regulars are now non shows, but a lot of topics that are raised have been covered in past posts so sometimes it is a bit repetitive, i trend to bob in early morning whilst having coffee and then possible PM as it is dark now by 1700 hrs, off to Tring today to have lunch with family, we lived in Tring for almost 20 years when we were first married, lovely place but had to move to Scotland for work and then did not want to return south but here we are and really enjoying the more temperant weather.

Found this on the site redevelopment page K. I assume the Full for January to March on availability is an error. Unfortunately we get quite a few of those.
Great news - we’re investing £2.5 million in improving our hugely popular Edinburgh Club Campsite over 2024 and 2025. The site will close fully from 8 January to 3 March 2024 and will partially reopen on 4 March 2024. The site is expected to fully reopen from 30 August 2024.
Key features
Fully refurbished facilities block with dual access to allow it to remain open during cleaning, plus a fully accessible shower room and toilet and an inclusive bathroom.
New drying room and laundry/dishwash room
Reception refurbishment
Improvements to the motorvan waste point and service points
Pitches
More serviced pitches
In the meantime, you might like to try some alternative campsites nearby:
Strathclyde Country Park Club Campsite - 40.6 miles
Melrose Gibson Park Club Campsite - 42.9 miles

Sums the Club up really……only they could think 43 miles “nearby”🤣 And I don’t think you can see the sea at Melrose either🤭
Have to say, the refurbished shower/loo blocks will be very nice if they are similar to what has been done at Clumber. No having to wait around while cleaning is done any more.

Plus they are still showing Edinburgh on their "Open All Year" section. The CAMC do a lot of good things for your average Caravanner/Motorhomer but they still manage to incorporate a streak of Amateurism into quite a bit of it.
Hosing down today, complete opposite from a lovely day yesterday where we managed to finally get a long walk in. I'd need a dog to be tempted outside in this.

Have we done something to upset the weather gods? Back in the middle of October we went away to celebrate Mrs M's birthday in Dartmouth. We travelled on the day storm Babet hit. Last weekend we met up with her sisters and OH's in a very nice cottage near Towcester, driving on the day storm Ciaran decided to grace us (lovely weekend but planned walks mostly thwarted by road closures for HS2 work! ). This week we have booked a rather swish looking dog friendly country house hotel break near Brecon - starting tomorrow and Monsieur Schafernacker has just promised storm Debi is due to arrive!
Thinking we might just like to tell folks when we're planning to be away so they can avoid those times!
