Enjoy Cromer, JVB.......one of our favourite locations.

Must find a good CL or similar there.

I have to say, I liked your idea of tackling the bad weather......not by cancelling, but by going a day early. Way to go! smile

Busy day again today. Up bright and early, well early anyway (for us) and off t'shops for vittels. Not half bad and not as bad as we expected. i think having an Aldi and Lidl in town now helps to reduce traffic in Tesco. We got all our veg yesterday in Lidl so really topped up today with tin stuff etc. Surprising how well it goes when there's no pressure.

Then this afternoon I had to drive to Chester for yet another visit with the Killer Driller. I counted them all in and counted them all back intact, this time. Next appointment though there's one coming out.

Mrs.WN and MIL meanwhile spent a good couple of hours in Grosvenor Garden Centre. Not too much damage done to the bank account.

Home to slurp tea. Forced myself into having a Champagne Cognac that is reserved for special occasions.

Finally collapsed in the chair about 7pm. Shopping trip was a little manic, many cars circling looking for a parking space. Inside the supermarket was relatively quiet - probably all in the car park! Most Christmas preparation jobs now done, just a visit to M&S to pick up the order tomorrow

OH even managed to spend the afternoon at church helping with the flower arrangements, although she was there about twice as long as anticipated

on the bright side caravan now securely anchored and ready to face storm Barbara

Oh dear Malcolm......ripped off good and proper this time on your insurances.

Rgarding the clutch on your Shogun.......didn't you have this done fo the second time just recently by Halfords? Or am I getting confused?

Posted on 23/12/2016 06:11

Yes. It seems so, Ian. I couldn't believe the price of the insurance and how much it seems to have gone up. The cost is crippling! However, car insurance is a legal requirement so just have to grin and bear it!

Yes the clutch was recently done by Halfords but I'm not going back there again just to have it go wrong again in three months! It may not be the clutch this time. It could be that a new gearbox is needed.

It's the bill that I'm dreading! It could be anything between £500 and £2,400, depending on what they find.

Malcolm, didn't you shop around ? , I did a quote for a Smart car with business use from compare the market ,and a quote from Axa insurance was £476 with no NCD, or did you pay for 3 years worth of insurance in one go !!!

No because I had already paid Lloyds Insurance £1903 for insurance on the Shogun which was due for renewal on 10th December and therefore qualified for £500 rebate by switching to the Smart Car. As the Shogun will no longer be for business use but just for towing the caravan, I thought it best to insure it through the Caravan Club. I didn't know I could get a better deal elsewhere. Also I only have one years NCD which is why I would have to pay more. Maybe when the renewal is due, I could try comparethemarket.com. Last year Comparethe market.com quoted Lloyds as the cheapest deal.
