Have you considered a small lift HD.  A neighbour recently had one fitted and it seems a better bet; not that I'm any sort of expert.

we did look in to that ,but it would compromise an upstairs room

Good luck with that H, I remember Dad looking into that 26 years ago, they only had an upstairs bathroom and Dad was not great on his legs.

Hopefully things are better these days for you.

We don't have a down stairs toilet despite our house only being 40 years old. We currently thinking about building a small extension on the back of our utility room to house a downstairs toilet. It will be a tad more expensive that a stair lift but hopefully should add a little value to the house. Fortunately we don't need it at the moment but just planning ahead. When we moved in we were both in our early thirties so I don't suppose it crossed our minds that one day we might need a downstairs loo!!! About ten years after we moved in we extended the house which included a second bathroom and that is when we should have given it more thought and it would have saved us some money!!!

My elderly neighbours are the opposite, they have a downstairs bathroom but no room for an upstairs loo. I am amazed they have managed into a great age with this arrangement but should one of them have problems at least they could sleep downstairs with easy access to the bathroom. Previously the row of three cottages had a row of three privies at the back, the furthest away had quite a sprint across the gardens!

Had a relatively easy journey over to Bury and back..

Sat here looking over my N.I. Contributions history when the phone rang. Lady caller didn't allow me to introduce myself but just said that my order was now in (in the ladies clothing store in town). I assured her in my deepest voice that I would be in to collect my bra quite soon and left her curled up with laughter and embarrassment. MIL is a favoured customer. Nice to know someone's happy with their work.

Holst was organist at Th after church in Essex and I believe was at the time of writing the planet suite.

I do hope I've remembered correctly, school was a long time ago 😂😂.

Our houses at senior school were named for local famous folk. One was named after Holst, Clausen the painter worked in Lindsell. Lukin, Lionel Lukin designed and built the first self righting lifeboat in Great Dunmow - testing it on The Doctors Pond which still exists as was today 🙂 and Wells for  H G Wells authour, having trouble recalling where he fitted in but possibly Thaxted.

Very frosty here this morning was frosty by 8.30pm last night - but was dripping in the mist/low cloud by 0830 am. Not had snow here or the chilly wind as yet 😉.

OH brighter this morning so hopefully that's it. Chores and decent dog walk before taking mum for hospital appointment at 4.15 pm, last time clinic running an hour behind and appointment was 11am - wonder what the chances of being seen on time are? 😂😂

Well remembered. That certainly was the information on the exhibits in Cheltenham. He spent a fair bit of time living in Essex
