Although I've put this photo of the Water Vole on the wildlife section I thought I would post here as well, or is that pointless?  Taken at RSPB Strumpshaw last Tuesday:

If you're ever at the Moreton in Marsh site, parked up near the boundary stream you might catch a glimpse of one there. Lovely photo Oneputt. smile

Like Francis I'm a fan of the Hillhead/Dartmouth area hope you enjoy your days out Kj. We visit Greenway nearly every time we're down there, going via the ferry usually. It's a lovely house and garden with nice food too, cream teas are good!

Agree, Greenway is a lovely place.

We sat having a coffee when we arrived and this little fella was keen to join us for cake! There are a lot of very tame birds around, in fact, one Robin was feeding off someone's hand while we were there, fascinating to watch.

Great photo OP. How lucky to see one and very quick of you to manage to get such a good photo.

Hope you enjoy Greenaway Kjnell, we haven't managed to get there yet. Totnes is an interesting place, some nice independent shops, and the town has its own currency, the Totnes Pound! Dartmouth of course is lovely. Hope the weather is kind.

How does the Totnes Pound work TDA.  Do you have to change your currency when you get there?

It's rather interesting, a concept put into place to help support local spending and business in Totnes. A Totnes Pound is equal to £1 sterling, but is only valid currency in Totnes itself, and hopes to promote thinking about how residents and visitors spend their cash. Nothing sinister, underpinned by sterling bank reserves, but aims to make folks buy local, supporting local businesses and employment.

Link to some info, if it works: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Totnes_pound

Totnes is the "Hebden Bridge" of Devon, if you have been to HB, you will know what I mean! Lovely shops, I don't think they have a big supermarket, very craft and farming based goods and services. Interesting castle as well, a shell keep, high on a hill!

I don't think you change currency, but if I recall correctly, you may be offered Totnes money in your change! Not compulsory to accept, but if you do, you spend it in another Totnes business!

TDA, Totnes has probably changed a bit since you visited. There is a large Morrison's at the bottom of the town, by the Dart. It always seems busy there, lots of visitors but still a nice place. There is a good walking tour made by local school children that takes you round the old alleyways, buildings and the castle. I picked the leaflet up at the tourist office which is near Morrison's and the bus stops. A lot of people do the round robin bus, boat and steam train tour. Hmm, I'm missing my Steamer Quay stay writing this.  wink smile

Totnes sounds lovely, we visited Hebden Bridge a few weeks ago, and really liked the town, so think I'd like Totnes,  can't remember ever visiting the town when we have been in Devon.

Phoned up re shower screen, which still hadn't been delivered,  spoke to the boss this time,  it should be delivered beginning of next week. Not that we are waiting for it, as haven't got the new bath fitted yet.😂

Hope you get all your work done soon Helen, we have an increasing back log of things to do. We were just starting to think about it all when we had an e mail from relatives in Australia saying they would be in the UK early October.  surprised Now in a flat spin knowing the house just won't be ready at all.
