EDIT: What are you frightened of, leaving your wife at home for a few hours maybe
If you were to move to Tesco, you could work anywhere, so possibly a more affordable part of the country, also your wife could also get a job there. Win Win if you ask me, and don't forget the staff discount 10% I believe, more of those lovely Tesco points

My wife probably wouldn't want to stay at home for a few hours whilst I was at work. She would probably prefer to spend those few hours at my work place looking for reduced price bargains!
No problem to leave her at home if that is what she prefers, Tammygirl!
What I'm frightened of is getting into a job that I am not happy with. I like shopping at Tesco but I don't think I'd like to work there.

Posted on 17/01/2018 00:13 byThat's right, Jayess. My wife applied and attended their interview two years ago and then later got an email to say her application was unsuccessful. Also Tesco only have part-time jobs available and even if she had been successful, it would have been less hours and therefore less money than my present job and no tips! So now she's happy to be a housewife instead. It gives her plenty of time to do other things like reduced price shopping.

It's true that jobs are advertised and offered on a part time basis but they are just core hours and there are overtime opportunities. They contract you to a certain number of hours on certain days but the expectation is that you will sign up for additional shifts.
It's worth looking again if she's interested in that sort of work.

Posted on 17/01/2018 06:56 by cariadonI now get a proper wage paid four weekly through the bank, plus drop money, plus tips. It's not a bad deal, Kj, is it?
Other people have to travel to work at heir own expense and cope.

Posted on 17/01/2018 08:45 by cariadonThink I lost some of the message.
You are lucky to have a job that pays you well and you are happy in, so maybe the negative comments you have posted are unwarranted, pointless even.

Yes I agree it's more comfortable in the frozen food or chilled food aisles, so okay for shopping but not as a place to work. Also, like Jayess said, they might not offer a job. Obviously, their recruitment process is not that easy!
When driving in my own car I have complete control over the temperature and can set it to what is comfortable for me.
