Pro's and con's for buying an electric vehicle

After reading the posts, I don't think the EV is suitable for me. They are advertised as an Urban vehicle, which rules me out.

I am sure that city / large town dwellers, where the air is most polluted will welcome them.

I think you have the makings of a new thread there Grant...wink

One of the reasons we bought an EV now is because we probably won't have the brain power to do the change later on. smile

I have no desire to live until i am 100 and probably would be well satisfied with reaching 90 years of age. This is obviouslyassuming I am in good health until I pop my clogs.

What age would you be satisfied to attain?

I have more a modest ambition. I worked in banking for 34 years, taking early retirement at 5 0. My cunning plan is to draw a pension for as long and I worked for them. Just so long as my longevity is more than an electric bike battery. wink

I would agree.

My mum was pretty good untill she was around 96, so I am hoping for another 20 years.

Cariadon, if you put in "child labour and car production" on the web you'll find many examples to do with all types of vehicles, not just EVs and also other examples from many things we buy and use. I checked out BMW who have said they are making efforts to set up "best practice" supply chains in the D.R. of C and it's hoped that cobalt can be reduced as battery development improves. Meanwhile we poison the atmosphere in our towns and cities by continuing to ignore pollution levels. Not much else I can add is there? undecided

Child labour is used by many companies, and will continue to be used when the demand is for cheap products, but some work is more dangerous than others. As long as a company wants to make huge profits the practise will continue.

I think there needs to be more quality control over stuff entering into the UK market from overseas. It's ridiculous, for example, that tin openers that are sold over here but made overseas, don't work! How do you open a can of mushy peas with a tin opener that doesn't work?
