Noticed today that the pay and display charge to park all day (11hours) at the side of the road on Marine Drive in Brighton (at the end nearest to the pier) is £16!!

Is this a record?

Go up the other end by the supermarket and shops park along side or near the Gypsies / travellers and it's free Laughing when we ask the car park attendant he confirmed they never give them tickets" not allowed to but please don't quote me I will get the sack " that was 3yrs ago

Thanks Ruby, but I wasn't trying to park. We always walk in, but we happened to notice.

We went to Brighton some years ago but didn't stay as the parking was excessive so went to spend the day elsewhere.

It has been a few years since we were previously in Cornwall but what we remembered was high parking charges. This year on our re-visit, we were pleasantly surprised that the charges appear to have been reduced, generally across the county. What we did notice though was that most public loos now charge 20p

Given the amount of fuel tax plus Road Fund Licence, I am pathologically opposed to paying to park on a bit of tarmac that I've already paid for. I'll only pay to park as a last resort.

It is probably another way of stopping m/vans from filling up the seafronts and as has happened elsewhere the councils getting a lot of complaints,
