Noticed today that the pay and display charge to park all day (11hours) at the side of the road on Marine Drive in Brighton (at the end nearest to the pier) is £16!!

Is this a record?

We parked on the sea front at Worthing. It cost £1 per hour. If we had parked on the adjacent side road (Stein Gardens?) it was £1.20 per hour.

We parked on Eastbourne sea front today for £1 per hour.

Most places in Frnce it is free.

...Not everyone wants to go to France, where as it seems to try to control the large amount of people who want to be on our seafronts and other very popular areas a charge is requiredCool

Write your comments here...No its the other way round. They want to come here for their holidays. When you're here in the Worthing town centre, it seems that passers by are speaking nearly every other language except English!

Malcolm  - if you are parked then surely the food will get cold - should you not be moving along at a legal speed?Laughing

Was in Brighton last weekend. But at above £3 per hour to park on Sea front, and£4 per hour in underground car park I won't be in a rush to go back. The car park doubles it's prices at the weekends. We went up to the marina, free parking had a walk round, had some lunch and went elsewhere.

Write your comments here...I have to park to collect the food from the restaurant. Sometimes it can take 20 minutes for the restaurant to cook and prepare the order. My wife collects the food whilst I stay in the car and move if a traffic warden appears.

It's also necessary to park somewhere once a delivery is completed whilst waiting for the next order to come through.

We were in Oban last week and couldn't find 'cheap' parking but was told to park up in Aldi.

You can park for free up near the Leisure Centre and walk down into the town.

It has been a few years since we were previously in Cornwall but what we remembered was high parking charges. This year on our re-visit, we were pleasantly surprised that the charges appear to have been reduced, generally across the county. What we did notice though was that most public loos now charge 20p

The loo is very cheap.  I remember visiting right up in the north of Scotland (Kyle of Lochalsh) back in 1993 and was charged 20p to use the loos then (it seemed expensive so that's why I remember).  But yes, I think parking charges are ridiculous.  At Tameside Hospital near Manchester blue badgeholders are charged £2+ close to the main entrance, whereas if you go down the hill (about 150 yards), its £1.50.  So OH visits Manchester Royal Infirmary where its free all dayHappy
