Insurance companies are their own worst enemy

Just had our second car insurance through, it had gone up by almost £70. I input like for like details into their website and it came up almost £100 cheaper. On phoning them they straight away agreed to honour it and said they would have noticed their mistake when we renewed . So if they had not been greedy, they could have held it at last years figure and we would have paid it, but now they are getting £30 less.

I have a multi car policy with Admiral and both this year and last they sent me an inflated renewal and both times i rang up and got it back to basically the original figure Undecided.I suppose its a bit of a ritual really.I also suppose that for every one that questions it like myself another half dozen wont and just pay up.

I also wonder if it's an age thing, they obviously know our date of birth and not all folk of our generation are so internet savvy. So do they try it on more with senior citizens than the younger generation. They have certainly tried it with our sons, but percentage wise I would have thought they would get more not bothering to challenge it, from those in their 60's or 70's.

i used Admiral, - for one year only!  Their renewal quote was just plain silly.   Changed to NFU about 4 years ago, got the same multi car type cover and personal attention from their local office!  You can talk to real live people and they are in this country!

When I rang Admiral to tell them what I thought of their quote and that i'd saved nearly £200 by going elsewhere they offered to reduce it.  Too bl***y late!

You & me both TF, any quotes from any insurance that jack up the price I move my custom elsewhere. I don't give them my custom because they lower the demand. Once they've tried to take advantage they're not worth my custom or trust. I accept they need to make a profit & I will accept a small increase but I've been quoted 33% increase with some of them-totally not acceptableYell

Are these companies the replacements for Banks?

Those have been dealt with, by and large, so do we now need universal opprobrium to deal with Insurers or will Theresa become a saint and sort them for us?

Last year, multi car insurance for Jag and Kia was £320, not bad, renewal this year over £500. Five minutes on phone, same company now £330.

Just sold caravan, applied for refund, pro rata refund, minus £35 admin fee.

Changed my motorcycle in April, rang insurance with new details, £25 admin fee.

Two weeks ago sat in lounge, heard loud bang, inner window of double glazed unit in conservatory shattered into a million pieces, (quite common apparently) rang insurance company who provided 10 year warranty. "Don't cover that"

insurance companies train all their employees in the art of ducking and diving.

Its that time again. Just got the renewal from SAGA for my Suzuki. Their quote £294 ( last year £185). Nothing has changed. Got Direct Line on a like for like basis at £179-20 .Plenty of others in the same range. Spoke to Saga who reduced to £224 and when I said I was leaving went to £202. Not good customer loyalty !!. However she did say I was paying by D/Debit and the premium would be debited on due date if I did nothing. Cancelled D/D immediately. Moral -don't trust a renewal quote, don't expect loyalty  and make sure you cancel or don't  pay Insurance policies by D/debit.
