Insurance companies are their own worst enemy

Just had our second car insurance through, it had gone up by almost £70. I input like for like details into their website and it came up almost £100 cheaper. On phoning them they straight away agreed to honour it and said they would have noticed their mistake when we renewed . So if they had not been greedy, they could have held it at last years figure and we would have paid it, but now they are getting £30 less.

I ought to as well.  Trouble is, it's such a long time since I retired, when it comes to looking for insurance companies, I never give them a thought. My next door neighbour always uses PMAS and is really pleased with their service.

I insure the caravan with Saga - mainly because they are about half the price of the competition plus, by all accounts, they have a good reputation when it comes to claims handling. On the odd occasion I've rung them with a query, the phone is answered straightaway by a 'real' person - none of that hanging on for ages listening to inane so-called music.

We have found them very competitive, plus family members can now use them.

PMAS came in with my my lowest Joint quote, very closely followed by Saga.  Only £2 in it.   But PMAS gets the business! IAM promised to match it, but my rule is, that I want your best bid first!  Double the price is just not good enough!

Don't know if Im allowed on here now. However an Insurance tale. Today decided to contact Direct Line to seek an increase in my annual milage allowance. They will increase by 2000 miles at no cost. Whilst telling the bloke the reason was that we had sold our motorhome and was a1 vehicle household he asked " Had you advised us of the change. " Answer No my M/h was insured by SAGA no connection to you. However it appears this is a material change to the policy and telling him cost me £7-82 in increased premium. You cant make it up. What else is lost in the small print to invalidate our policies?
