How can we liven this section up?

We have simply got to liven this section up somehow!

It used to be quite lively, but now its just terminal boredom!  We have such riveting threads such as 'What are you all up to today?" ( As if anyone really cares ) and "What is it like for you?)"  discussing the weather Oh great!

The trouble is that if someone just even dares to pen something the slightest bit interesting it gets shunted into the backwoods where it probably won't be seen.

Suggestions please!

I think that sometimes what is seen as 'hijacking' a post can be unintentional!  After all,  most normal conversations 'in the flesh' so to speak can go this way too.....down to 'having a conversation' as opposed to having a 'debate'!  Laughing. Maybe a little more tolerance could be useful as after all, the OP has the opportunity to repeat their original post, if necessary, in the same thread!

TW, Not sure what you meant, but for clarity I certainly was not complaning about JillWJ. Who is always on the ball.

But your comment certainly makes me think that it would have been better if I hadn't raised the subject,  and just accepted the fact that "General Chat" today carries little serious interest, compared to a few years ago.

Agree with you tigerfish,  don't contribute as I used to, but what spoils a post for me is half way through someone decides that they want to be centre of attention and posts comments that is not relevant to the thread instead of starting their own post.

Partly cos it's so flaming difficult to find the original thread on this forum.... and some of the threads here eg the one I started FAO ADP 1963 is something that should be done via PM ..... but we still don't have that facility

Most of the other sub-sections dilute what should be in Gen Chat & IMHO should be scrapped

I suppose that to make general chat interesting we ought to have a sub section for Poli...., reli.... and comment on how 'the law' demonstrates to one and all, that it is an ass afterall.

The club could point out, to all and sundry, that opinions given therein are members own thoughts and not those of the club. That should keep the legal eagles at bay and stop management from shaking in its boots.

Totally agree general chat used to include humour, lively debate with differing views that often would enhance your knowledge. Where if we are allowed would we discuss the referendum for example.

Good point H the most important vote for many a year.

Actually I find Furballs comments completely out of order and totally objectionable. Disgusting.

So is this how you want the section livening up, TF?
