Ecigs don't smell, they don't contaminate clothing, they don't promote 2nd hand smoking as there is no tobacco. To treat them the way traditional cigarettes are treated is a backward step. Any help a smoker can get to put tobacco addiction behind them should be welcomed by any caring individual. It must be good for the individual & the country as a whole. It is more socially acceptable to cape than smoke.

E-cigs are nearly as revolting to a non smoker as ordinary fags. Can't stand them - anywhere!
Well, not quite so revolting! ... just absurdly comical. However they are equally banned in our house. At least the person who has been smoking them doesn't stink the place out the second they come back indoors.

Cigarettes were also reckoned to be perfectly safe at one time (they were even said to be good for your health at one time!). We now know that they cause hugely debilitating illnesses and then death.
Who really knows what will be uncovered about e-cigs in years to come? Many of the chemical additives are imported and contain who knows what?
One thing is for certain......they are highly unlikely to be good for anyone's health.
I know (from experience) that it's not easy to stop smoking. But if some people are unwilling or unable to stop, they shouldn't be allowed to inflict their fumes on others.

The only possible justification for these things is to wean tobacco addicts on to something safer.
I worry that way the things are advertised actually glamourises them, and encourages young non smokers to use them, and possibly from them to cigarettes.
It should not be legal to use them in enclosed public spaces. I am glad that Wetherspoons does not allow them in their pubs.

I've never found the vapour objectionable, Ian, and certainly better than the exhaust fumes we inhale every day. I like to think, in any case, that if I can help the person trying to give up smoking by tolerating the vapour - and it's no big deal for me - then that's fine.

I quite agree, I would hope mind that they don't do it in front of youngsters or across the restaurant.
